Kimmel even told THR, \u201cWe were hoping this time they\u2019d get one for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It seems he has not.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CBS posted an FYC video on <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-late-show-with-stephen-colbert\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-late-show-with-stephen-colbert\" data-tag=\"the-late-show-with-stephen-colbert\">The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/a>\u2019s<\/em> YouTube channel. It featured many clips of Colbert\u2019s fellow late-night hosts and Emmy rivals, including Kimmel, John Oliver, Jon Stewart, David Letterman, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon and Andy Cohen. But it made it clear that they want another Emmy in the Outstanding Variety Series category (the new name for the merged category).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Late Show<\/em> is competing against <em>Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver <\/em>and <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> in the main late-night category after the Outstanding Talk Series and Outstanding Scripted Variety Series categories\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/06\/late-night-variety-shows-five-emmy-slots-1236954019\/\">were merged.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also the possibility that more than one of these shows can pick up a statue in the category as a result of the new rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The canceled CBS talker landed nine Emmy nominations this year. Other nods included in writing, directing music direction, picture editing, sound mixing, lighting design, camerawork and production design.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FYC video leans into Colbert\u2019s final run of shows with a heavy dose of A-listers.
