<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight:400\">and<\/span><strong> Tori Cannarelli<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight:400\">, a couple who hail from Long Island, New York, are sharing a glimpse into their sweet pets who became unlikely fur-ever friends: Louie the Duck and Barley the Golden Retriever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">\u201cI never thought I would own a duck,\u201d Tori admitted during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/video\/the-bond-between-dog-and-duck\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\">an interview with <\/a><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/video\/the-bond-between-dog-and-duck\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\"><em><span style=\"font-weight:400\">CBS Sunday Mornings<\/span><\/em><\/a><span style=\"font-weight:400\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400\">Aug. 9. \u201cI never expected him to stay long term.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">In 2024, however, an old dog got a new friend when the couple\u2019s dog Barley was diagnosed with epilepsy and started taking a new medicine that changed her disposition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">\u201cShe lost her spunk,\u201d Tori explained. \u201cShe lost her goldeness.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">Initially, Tori\u2014who shares two kids with Justin\u2014admitted that the family felt hopeless.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">\u201cThere\u2019s nothing you can do for them,\u201d she recalled. \u201cThere\u2019s no way to help them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">Indeed, Justin admitted that the family felt hopeless
