You got to think about your idols. If your idol is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/kurt-cobain\">Kurt Cobain<\/a>, would he ever do <em>The Voice<\/em>? No.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barker acknowledged that he himself has performed several times on\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em>, but explained: \u201cI\u2019m different. I\u2019m doing fun shit that\u2019s just fun for me \u2019cause I\u2019m a drummer and I\u2019m not on the forefront. It\u2019d be different if I was singing with all these people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He then told\u00a0<em>Popcast\u00a0<\/em>his final words of advice for singer Landon, which was to \u201cstay on your own trajectory\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m in the studio, I hear the songs that he\u2019s creating,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s no rush, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Travis Barker Gets Vulnerable: Plane Crash Trauma, Miscarriage &amp; Parenting Famous Kids\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6D0PgbKs_DM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Barker, who is set\u00a0to release his new documentary<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/travis-barker-louder-than-fear-new-documentary-release-date-revealed-3946525\">\u00a0Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear\u00a0<\/a><\/em>on Hulu and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/brands\/disney\">Disney<\/a>+ on August 13, revealed to\u00a0<em>Popcast\u00a0<\/em>that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/travis-barker-says-blink-182-are-working-on-a-new-album-3961628\">Blink-182 are working on a new album.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When asked about what he was currently working on, Barker said: \u201cI\u2019m starting a couple of other projects, like producing projects, working on the next Blink album.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When he was then asked whether the band were working on the record this year or in 2027, he added: \u201cWorking on the Blink album this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pop-punk legends last released music in 2023 with \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/blink-182-one-more-time-review-lyrics-tracklist-3517188\">One More Time\u2026<\/a>\u2019 \u2013 their first record in over a decade with the original trio of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/mark-hoppus\">Mark Hoppus<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/tom-delonge\">Tom DeLonge<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Barker.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/landon-barker-on-dad-travis-musical-feedback-he-doesnt-let-me-down-easy-3546593\">Landon has shared that his dad Travis \u201cdoesn\u2019t let me down easy\u201d when it comes to musical feedback<\/a>. In September 2023, Landon released his debut single \u2018Friends With My Ex\u2019, which Travis helped co-produce.<\/p>\n<p>Landon said he will \u201cdefinitely shoot[s] for his advice whenever I can get it\u201d, adding: \u201cIf I was talking to somebody else and they didn\u2019t like the song, they would let me down easy. I feel like [Travis] doesn\u2019t let me down easy. It\u2019s good \u2013 I so appreciate it because I love authenticity, and I love the transparency, and he\u2019s always transparent and supportive.
