The cast also includes P. J. Byrne and Chris Coy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe film was written, directed and produced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/david-robert-mitchell\/\" id=\"auto-tag_david-robert-mitchell_1\" data-tag=\"david-robert-mitchell\">David Robert Mitchell<\/a>, the filmmaker behind the highly rated 2014 horror film <em>It Follows<\/em> and A24\u2019s 2018 black comedy <em>Under the Silver Lake<\/em>. Notably, <em>The End of Oak Street<\/em> is produced by J.J. Abrams as well as Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, Matt Jackson and Tommy Harper. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThere has been some online chatter that <em>The End of Oak Street<\/em> is secretly connected to Abrams\u2019 <em>Cloverfield<\/em> franchise. Alas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/j-j-abrams-end-of-oak-street-theories-gracie-abrams-acting-1236670415\/\">Abrams shot down the speculation<\/a> \u201cThe only connection to our <em>Cloverfield<\/em> movies is that Ewan\u2019s partner is Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who was the star of <em>10 Cloverfield Lane<\/em>, who we were very lucky to get to work with and who I adore,\u201d Abrams told <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>. \u201cSo there was that, but other than that, people are just making connections that they happen to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFull reviews of <em>The End of Oak Street<\/em> are embargoed until Aug. 12, ahead of the film\u2019s wide theatrical release on Aug. 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFor Warners, there\u2019s an added pressure for <em>The End of Oak Street<\/em> to succeed at the box office. The studio had a stellar 2025, when <em>Sinners<\/em>, <em>A Minecraft Movie<\/em>, <em>Superman<\/em>, <em>Final Destination Bloodlines<\/em>, <em>Weapons<\/em> and <em>One Battle After Another<\/em> all made hay at the global box office \u2014and in the case of <em>Sinners<\/em> and <em>OBAA<\/em> dominated the Oscars.
