Unfortunately for those council members, it wasn\u2019t the artists singing their songs but average citizens utilizing their allotted time during a public comment period.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/A81dhaPI5RU?t=2506s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">A public access television broadcast<\/a> uploaded to YouTube showed the latest public spectacle at a Cranford Township local government meeting July 7th by 52-year-old William Thilly, a serial provocateur during the public comment period who last year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/aTN4JhI92u8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">went viral for breakdancing<\/a> at one of the meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of dancing, this time Thilly busted out a small speaker and began singing Morrissey\u2019s 1994 hit \u201cThe More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get\u201d and continued to rhapsodize even as his allotted time ran out and police approached him ready with handcuffs. The police eventually ended the concert by dragging Thilly out and charging him with disrupting a meeting, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/union\/2026\/07\/he-went-viral-for-breakdancing-at-town-meetings-now-hes-charged-with-a-crime.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reports<\/a>. Video of\u00a0 Thilly\u2019s recent stunt can be seen below at about the 47 minute mark.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Before his karaoke performance, Thilly had placed a sign on the podium reading \u201cRefuse Govt. Abuse,\u201d and spoke out against a lack of government transparency across the world, saying people can no longer accept this kind of abuse.<\/p>\n<p>That wasn\u2019t the only performance local officials were blessed with that night, and it wasn\u2019t even the strangest.
