That growth has increased U.S. demand not only for grid expansion but also for distributed and self-contained generating systems capable of providing data centers with reliable electricity.

HD Hyundai’s HiMSEN is a medium-speed generating engine designed for such applications. The 9.6 MW units covered by the contract offer high output and efficiency and can operate continuously for extended periods, making them suitable for facilities requiring reliable power around the clock.

Corban Energy Group specializes in energy infrastructure and engineering and supplies gas, liquefied natural gas and power-related products for infrastructure projects, including data centers and U.S. government projects.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to use the partnership to pursue additional opportunities in the U.S. data center power market.

The company has already secured several U.S. data center power equipment orders this year.

In April, it signed a 627.1 billion won ($442 million) contract with U.S. energy infrastructure developer AEG. Combined with Monday’s deal, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has secured 1.58 trillion won ($1.12 billion) in U.S. data center power equipment orders this year.

The company plans to expand beyond data centers into industrial facilities and other infrastructure projects with high electricity demand.

“The continuing inquiries about cooperation in the data center power engine market demonstrate the proven technology and reliability of HiMSEN engines,” an HD Hyundai Heavy Industries official said. “We will explore diverse business opportunities and expand our presence in the power generation equipment market.”

— Reported by Asia Today; translated by UPI

© Asia Today.
