Hollywood career took a backseat in his life, overshadowed by the highly publicized split from <b>Angelina Jolie<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Pitt was struggling with drinking and substance issues for more than two decades, starting from his college days in the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>He went <b>sober in 2016<\/b> after a violent <b>plane altercation<\/b>, in which he allegedly <b>hurt Jolie<\/b> and their children while <b>drunk<\/b>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-highlights\"><span class=\"h2\">Highlights<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"bullet-wrapper\"><i class=\"bullet\"\/><\/span><span>Brad Pitt recently revealed that he went back to drinking in moderation after seven years of sobriety.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"bullet-wrapper\"><i class=\"bullet\"\/><\/span><span>The actor decided to stop drinking after a plane incident in 2016 that led to his and Angelina Jolie\u2019s divorce.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"bullet-wrapper\"><i class=\"bullet\"\/><\/span><span>Pitt revealed that the divorce and the subsequent estrangement from all six of his children made him feel like ending his life.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>His then-wife filed for <b>divorce<\/b> three days after the incident, and their children have reportedly distanced themselves from him ever since.<\/p>\n<p>In a new interview published on August 10, the actor worried his fans by revealing he has <strong>welcomed the habit back<\/strong> into his lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLuckily, he\u2019s not around his kids anymore, so they thankfully aren\u2019t in any danger,\u201d one user 2025, and offered the interviewer wine before the conversation began.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he kept wine at home for guests, Pitt revealed that he had broken his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/tom-holland-robert-downey-jr-marvel-screen-test-confession\/\" class=\" staff-link\">sobriety<\/a> a while back, but consumes liquor in moderation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was sober for seven years, and then I got back off the wagon \u2014 in a more restrained manner,\u201d Pitt said. \u201cI got overconfident a couple of times, went, then, he has been open about his struggles with drinking, as well as his substance misuse habits from a very young age.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, he publicly thanked fellow actor Bradley Cooper for helping him get sober while accepting an award from him at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala: \u201cI got sober because of this guy, and every day has been happier ever since.\u201d<\/p>\n<p
