\u2014\u00a0Paddy \u201cThe Baddy\u201d Pimblett was about to take the final step in his meteoric rise \u2014\u00a0then Justin Gaethje happened.<\/p>\n<p>Pimblett arrived at UFC 324 \u2013 the inaugural UFC on Paramount+ card \u2013 as a favorite against the veteran Gaethje with a potential title shot on the horizon if he had won.<\/p>\n<p>His charismatic personality and flare for the dramatics in the octagon \u2014\u00a0collecting finishes and performance bonuses \u2014\u00a0made him an instant fan favorite. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button Pimblett in January by unanimous decision, knocking the Englishman down twice and inflicting more damage on him than he had suffered in his career to date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t start demanding title fights,\u201d Pimblett, who is fighting Benoit Saint-Denis in the co-main event on Saturday night at UFC 329 here, told The Post. \u201cI\u2019m not even on a win streak. Once I beat BSD, I\u2019ll be on a one\u2013fight\u2013 it\u2019s not even a streak\u2013 it\u2019s just a win. I didn\u2019t even ask for a title fight when I got the Gaethje fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saint-Denis, a former member of the French Army Special Forces, profiles as one of the toughest matches for Pimblett at lightweight \u2014\u00a0and is going into the bout fearless.<\/p>\n<p>Though Pimblett views his opponent as a less dangerous version of Gaethje.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Paddy Pimblett Gives Blunt Assessment on Benoit Saint-Denis Ahead of UFC 329 | Against the Cage\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UDDCR2XImZM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve fought people like him,\u201d Pimblett said. \u201cWe\u2019ve done a lot of specific stuff, obviously, for the type of grappling he does. We\u2019ll be ready for him\u2026 He\u2019s a not-as-good version of Justin Gaethje on the feet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though the 31-year-old Pimblett said he still has the edge in grappling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople talk about his grappling\u2026 even [Renato] Moicano absolutely schooled him on the ground. Moicano busted him up bad and schooled him on the floor,\u201d Pimblett said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Pimblett said he expected the fight, which is the co-main event for Conor McGregor\u2019s return against Max Holloway, to be a five-round fight. He added that he signs whatever the UFC puts in front of him and that he doesn\u2019t know for certain that Saint-Denis asked for a three-round fight, but it\u2019s the \u201conly explanation\u201d for it being three rounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he must have asked for it to be three rounds because he knows he gasses after two,\u201d Pimblett said. I\u2019ll be shocked if this fight gets to the third round, but if it does, I\u2019ll be putting a third-round beating on him.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter
