{"id":37538,"date":"2026-08-11T00:41:26","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T19:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=37538"},"modified":"2026-08-11T00:41:26","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T19:41:26","slug":"bayonne-beats-port-washington-to-reach-llws-metro-championship-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=37538","title":{"rendered":"Bayonne beats Port Washington to reach LLWS Metro championship game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div xmlns:default=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\">\n<p>A Little League in the shadows of New York City\u2019s skyscrapers is having its moment in the sun.<\/p>\n<p>New Jersey\u2019s Bayonne Central put up a triumphant 12-2 win over New York\u2019s Port Washington in a winner\u2019s bracket game of the Metro regional round of the Little League World Series in Bristol, Conn., on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The Garden State greats are now one win away from Williamsport, Pa. and are living off the mantra of shocking the world, assistant coach Jaime Rivera said to the group while mic\u2019d up during the ESPN-televised game.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"\/>\n<p>Bayonne\u2019s dominant performance, which came in four of six innings on a 10-run rule, was highlighted by a stellar day at the plate and on the mound by the coach\u2019s son, Mason Rincon, who drove in a pair of runs and threw for an abundance of goose eggs.<\/p>\n<p>The Long Islanders threatened in the top of the first with a hard-hit double by outfielder Carlo Cafferata that put runners on second and third, but Port couldn\u2019t convert any runs then against starting pitcher Gabe Garcia.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Bayonne\u2019s offensive machine ignited when Rincon hit a two-run homer off Jackson Gorynski in the bottom of the inning that went into the trees behind Leon J.
