Days before his trial, Davis said that he was not in Las Vegas when Shakur got shot. Davis is charged with murder almost 30 years after the rapper\u2019s death. Jury selection begins Monday, Aug. 10, in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-keffe-d-insisted-prosecutors-cannot-prove-he-was-present-that-night\">Keffe D insisted prosecutors cannot prove he was present that night<\/h2>\n<p>Davis, 63, is the only person police have arrested in connection with Tupac Shakur\u2019s killing. Prosecutors accuse him of helping orchestrate the shooting after Shakur attended the Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand on Sept. 7, 1996. Shakur passed away six days after the shooting. Davis told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5vegas.com\/2026\/08\/08\/i-wasnt-las-vegas-keffe-d-speaks-jail-days-before-tupac-murder-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FOX5 <\/a>on Aug. 7, \u201cThey can\u2019t prove it also,\u201d while again saying he \u201cwasn\u2019t in Las Vegas\u201d that night.<\/p>\n<p>Davis also challenged a book that prosecutors may use during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/2026\/08\/06\/keefe-d-rejects-plea-deal-tupac-murder-trial\/\">trial<\/a>. Compton Street Legend carries his name, but Davis said a ghostwriter wrote it. He said that he was paid to promote the book because he wanted to help his family. Davis also disputed a photo that shows him and his sister at the Tyson fight, saying the picture came from a New Year\u2019s Eve party at the Sheraton hotel in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>Davis has also challenged the use of a 2008 law-enforcement interview. He claimed his attorney gave him a script and told him, \u201cThat\u2019s the only way you\u2019re going home,\u201d before he read it during the interview. Davis said he did not know the conversation was being recorded. His attorney, Michael Sanft, has also argued that detectives told him the interview was confidential.<\/p>\n<p>Davis said he plans to keep fighting the case even if he loses at trial. \u201cIf I don\u2019t win in this court, I\u2019ll win in the next level,\u201d he said. He further stated that he would testify if he had to.
