Gavin Newsom and his sister Hilary Newsom Callan \u2014 who runs his business empire \u2013 met with a secretive list of CEOs at the Governor\u2019s Mansion this spring, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/article\/gavin-newsoms-secret-meeting-calendar-revealed-for-the-first-time\/\">records obtained by the California Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The little-known gathering has raised concerns as Newsom has promised not to intermingle state affairs with his business interests at the PlumpJack Group, which is managed by his sister and held in a blind trust overseen by a family friend.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Gov. Earlier this year, The Post found that he <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/03\/us-news\/gavin-newsom-spent-donor-money-at-his-own-wine-business-filings\/\">spent more than $50,000 in campaign donor money on PlumpJack wines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Newsom has made a promise to not let state agencies contract with his businesses. <span class=\"credit\">David Buchan for Ca Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>State Republican Party Chairwoman Corrin Rankin said the newly disclosed meeting raises legitimate questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNewsom owes Californians a clear explanation about why his sister, who helps run the family business, was involved in meetings with major business leaders,\u201d Rankin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe line between public duties and private family interests should never be blurred.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Newsom\u2019s wine empire has made him considerable money, but it\u2019s not clear who he has partnered with over the years. <span class=\"credit\">X\/@fordnation<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Newsom launched PlumpJack before entering politics and becoming mayor of San Francisco. (San Francisco Chronicle) <span class=\"credit\">ASSOCIATED PRESS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At the start of his administration, Newsom transferred his ownership interests into a blind trust overseen by Shyla Hendrickson, a family friend who is an attorney and certified public accountant, and he signed an executive order prohibiting executive branch agencies from doing business with PlumpJack.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His office has long maintained that the Hendrickson is legally prohibited from sharing business information with the governor, insulating him from potential conflicts involving his family\u2019s company.<\/p>\n<p>But similar to his <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/31\/us-news\/gavin-newsom-faces-backlash-over-restricted-access-to-his-tax-records\/\">sneaky release of tax returns<\/a> last week to a select group of media outlets, Newsom\u2019s office is refusing to provide more information on the March 26 meeting.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Gavin Newsom and his sister, Hilary Newsom Callan, in a photo from November 2005. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Newsom and his wife reported annual income above $1 million in recent tax filings. <span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The governor\u2019s office declined to answer The Post\u2019s questions on who attended the meeting, what was discussed, whether any of the CEOs have business ties to PlumpJack or what role the governor\u2019s sister played in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Diana Crofts-Pelayo, a spokesperson for Newsom, said that the governor has participated in Young Presidents\u2019 Organization events for years and dismissed questions about the gathering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has nothing to do with any business held in his blind trust,\u201d Crofts-Pelayo said. \u201cAny suggestion that there is a conflict of interest or ethical concern about this event is patently absurd.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Plumpjack winery executives Gordon Getty (left) and Newsom on April 10, 2001. <span class=\"credit\">San Francisco Chronicle via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She added that meeting with business leaders is a routine part of the governor\u2019s responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs governor, he meets throughout the year with CEOs, business leaders, local officials, legislators, unions, nonprofits, and public citizens alike,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s his job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governor\u2019s sister also rejected any suggestion that the event involved the family\u2019s business interests, while declining to answer specific questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYPO has nothing to do with PlumpJack, and the governor\u2019s businesses are held in a blind trust,\u201d Newsom Callan wrote in an email to The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not communicate with him about those matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials for the Young Presidents\u2019 Organization did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Government ethics experts have generally viewed blind trusts as one of the strongest tools for reducing conflicts of interest, because public officials relinquish knowledge and control over assets while in office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"single__inline-module inline-module inline-module--newsletter aligncenter inline-module--nypostbusinessunit aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-newsletter\" data-source-unit=\"Inline Newsletter Module Cali -
