that place again,\u201d Giacomo de Mola, a member of the team that found the ship, said in a video post on Facebook.  <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-8145c3\" class=\"body-graf\">Hundreds of clay jars known as amphorae were discovered inside the shipwreck, alongside lead anchor stocks and other artifacts, police said.  <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-141b8a\" class=\"body-graf\">De Mola, in a separate Facebook post said they could have come from all over the ancient world and the artifacts could be \u201clikely North African amphorae, and a Neo-Punic amphora.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-280837\" class=\"body-graf\">The discovery could play a key role in helping experts form \u201ca reconstruction of trading routes and also an ancient risk map of the Mediterranean,\u201d according to Simon picture of the ancient maritime world, Stoddart, who was not part of the team that made the discovery, told NBC News in an email Monday. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-0e1f86\" class=\"body-graf\">The depth of this shipwreck also makes its discovery both remarkable and relatively rare, he added. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-257dca\" class=\"body-graf\">However, he cautioned, recording and retrieving \u201cwhere ethically appropriate\u201d material from the vessel would be a challenge \u201csince this requires specialist equipment and short visits to this depth.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure present at an underwater site, he said, \u201cthe location will need to be kept secret until a decision is made as to whether excavation is practical and whether it can be properly resourced.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-ca30fa\" class=\"body-graf\">Police said they would further document the site to understand the \u201cappropriate protective measures\u201d that need to be implemented and the goal is \u201csafeguarding the historical artifacts preserved on the seabed and returning them to the public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-dc72fd\" class=\"endmark body-graf\">For de Mola, the personal impact of the discovery, was enormous. \u201cThis time, we didn\u2019t just find a shipwreck.
