He has also suggested U.S. intelligence would detect efforts to rebuild the facilities or secretly develop a bomb, while the threat of further U.S. strikes could deter Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>If Iran\u2019s nuclear ambitions can effectively be contained and shipping resumes through Hormuz, Trump would be more likely to extend the current ceasefire indefinitely, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>But Iran has complicated Trump&#8217;s search for an off-ramp with sweeping new demands for reopening the strait, the outlet reported. <strong>Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr<\/strong>, secretary of Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council, said Washington would have to permanently end the war, withdraw U.S. forces, lift sanctions and the naval blockade, release frozen Iranian assets and pay war reparations, according to Iranian state media.<\/p>\n<p>The demands came as Trump unloaded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/tv\/trump-warns-iran-will-be-hit-very-hard-if-they-fail-to-strike-deal-i-have-no-choice\/\">threats of strikes<\/a> and also repeatedly suggested an agreement was close.
