to help stranded boat in Alaska"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F08%2Fzuckerberg-under-fire-after-yacht-didnt-help-distressed-boat.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall%261786318010\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is facing questions after his $300 million superyacht didn\u2019t rush to help passengers stuck on a ship in Alaskan waters, according to a report.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 387-foot monster ship, Launchpad, didn\u2019t act on requests for assistance when a 21-foot skiff ran out of fuel on a trip between Petersburg and Juneau, Alaska, on Monday night, <a href=\"https:\/\/alaskabeacon.com\/briefs\/cruise-ship-helps-stranded-skiff-and-crew-in-southeast-alaska-as-zuckerberg-yacht-stands-by\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Alaska Beacon reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, a small cruise ship, Wilderness Legacy, came to the vessel\u2019s help.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>As the rescue was underway, the cruise\u2019s captain announced that Zuckerberg\u2019s superyacht The Launchpad had been closer to the stranded vessel than his own ship and \u201crefused\u201d to lend a helping hand, according to a passenger.\u00a0 <span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As the rescue was underway, the cruise\u2019s captain made the announcement that Zuckerberg\u2019s superyacht had been closer to the stranded vessel than his own ship \u2014 but had \u201crefused\u201d to lend a helping hand, according to a passenger.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cThere was near unanimous booing\u201d when the cruise ship\u2019s captain announced that Zuckerberg\u2019s ship didn\u2019t come to the rescue of the ship, passenger Michael Love said in a Bluesky post. <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThere was near unanimous booing when the captain announced this,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/elkmovie.bsky.social\/post\/3mscqsxfulk26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to a Bluesky post<\/a> by vacationer Michael Love.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The tiny skiff had sent out a call for assistance around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, the Coast Guard said.<\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard determined that the vessel wasn\u2019t in distress but issued a marine assistance request broadcast about 30 minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>Vessel-tracking services show that the Wilderness Legacy, operated by UnCruise Adventures, was farther away from the stranded vessel than Zuckerberg\u2019s superyacht at the time, according to the Beacon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Vessel-tracking services show the UnCruise Adventures ship Wilderness Legacy as farther away from the stranded skiff than Zuckerberg\u2019s own vessel at the time the distress call went out, according to the Alaska Beacon.\u00a0 <span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It also shows the cruise ship sailing past Launchpad on its way to help the stranded ship \u2014 as the social media tycoon\u2019s mega-yacht stays floating in the middle of the water, the outlet reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The stranded skiff was towed back to safety in protected Farragut Bay by the Wilderness Legacy.<\/p>\n<p>Zuckerberg\u2019s spokesperson insisted in a statement that the tech billionaire and his family were not aboard the ship \u2014 and that his yacht crew had been operating on a different radio channel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMark and his family were not on board at the time of the incident,\u201d the statement provided to the Beacon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the Coast Guard noted, the boat was not in distress, and by the time the crew reviewed the Coast Guard contact on a different radio channel from the one they were operating on, the assist was already underway.
