Now, the Allen County Prosecutor\u2019s Office has determined that \u201ccriminal charges will not be filed\u201d as a result of the incident.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved and especially for Ms. Grayson\u2019s family,\u201d officials wrote in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1BfhHQ3Niy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">social media statement<\/a>. \u201cWe have given this case a fair and thorough review, and evaluated it on the evidence and the law, the same standard we target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a>\u00a0outlining the evidence reviewed in the investigation, including security footage, witness reports, 911 recordings, dispatch records, and more, states that, on May 13, Grayson ordered food through the drive-thru window before returning approximately seven minutes later to dispute the order at the front counter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prosecutor\u2019s office details that upon Grayson\u2019s return, the senior citizen and a 17-year-old employee got into a verbal exchange that escalated before a second employee (Employee 1) intervened to defend the minor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe confrontation turned physical: Grayson shoved and struck Employee 1, the two fell to the floor and continued struggling and coworkers separated them,\u201d read the report. After officers arrived at the scene, Grayson \u201cwas evaluated and treated inside the restaurant before being transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Surveillance footage from inside the store later confirmed that Grayson was the first to push and hit the first employee before both of them fell on the floor and continued to grapple, according to the report. Four employee witnesses and a customer witness, who were interviewed separately, also gave accounts that matched with each other and with the video.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The adult employee claimed in her witness statement that Grayson called her a \u201clittle white b\u2013ch\u201d before attempting to swing around her toward the minor employee. After she placed both hands on Grayson\u2019s shoulders to hold her back, the elder allegedly punched her in the face, grabbed her hair, and dragged her through the employee doors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators later observed that the employee had bruises, scratches on her face, and a substantial area of hair ripped from her scalp.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"\/>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listicle-slide\" data-page-number=\"2\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the altercation, the juvenile employee recalled that Grayson appeared to lower herself to the floor in the dining area. , According to the report, they did not believe Grayson collapsed involuntarily.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c[Employee 1] was later advised that Grayson had gone to the floor, and said she personally observed Grayson appearing to have what she described as a seizure,\u201d stated the report. \u201cWhen coworkers offered water, Grayson told them to leave her alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Grayson\u2019s death, the coroner\u2019s certification of her manner of death was undetermined after concluding that she sustained no significant contributory injuries.
