{"id":35316,"date":"2026-08-09T22:53:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-09T17:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=35316"},"modified":"2026-08-09T22:53:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T17:53:15","slug":"alia-shawkat-on-runaways-reunion-with-kristen-stewart-in-the-wrong-girls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=35316","title":{"rendered":"Alia Shawkat On &#8216;Runaways&#8217; Reunion With Kristen Stewart In &#8216;The Wrong Girls&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Years before they were onscreen buds in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-wrong-girls\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-wrong-girls\" data-tag=\"the-wrong-girls\">The Wrong Girls<\/a><\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/alia-shawkat\/\" id=\"auto-tag_alia-shawkat\" data-tag=\"alia-shawkat\">Alia Shawkat<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/kristen-stewart\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kristen-stewart\" data-tag=\"kristen-stewart\">Kristen Stewart<\/a> were jamming together as the titular rock \u201cQueens of Noise\u201d in 2010\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-runaways\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-runaways\" data-tag=\"the-runaways\">The Runaways<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a recent screening for their upcoming Dylan Meyer-written\/directed Neon stoner comedy, which premieres Aug. 14 in theaters, Shawkat recalled they \u201cwere children\u201d on the set of the Floria Sigismondi-helmed musical drama, which starred Stewart as <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/joan-jett\/\" id=\"auto-tag_joan-jett\" data-tag=\"joan-jett\">Joan Jett<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou barely talked on that movie,\u201d Stewart recalled to Shawkat in a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@midnightscreaming\/video\/7671289052536016142?_r=1&amp;_t=ZP-98k4zTObMS7\">video<\/a> from the Q&amp;A.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shawkt explained, \u201cYeah, I literally was not allowed to speak in that movie, because the character I was playing became an entertainment lawyer and was like, \u2018I don\u2019t want to be involved in the film.\u2019 And I found that out my first day on set, after I\u2019d learned all the songs. They were like, \u2018You can\u2019t speak for legal reasons.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018OK, cool. So, just like holding a guitar in the background?\u2019 They\u2019re like, \u2018Yeah, just stand to the left a little bit.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tracing the roots of the 1970s \u201cCherry Bomb\u201d rock group, <em>The Runaways<\/em> also starred Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, Stella Maeve as Sandy West and Scout Taylor-Compton as Lita Ford. While Shawkat is credited as Robin Robins in the movie, her character is a stand-in for bass guitarist Jacqueline Fuchs (aka Jackie Fox).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnyways, it was still a cool project.
