Authorities identified the shooter as 24-year-old Chad Williams, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.<\/p>\n<p>Williams, police say, opened fire at the newly opened fast-food restaurant, killing three people and wounded several others. Police said an off-duty law enforcement officer and a second person fired back at the gunman, potentially preventing more violence.<\/p>\n<p>A motive is unclear.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what we know about the victims:<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"ashley-garibay\" class=\"subhead\">Ashley Garibay<\/h2>\n<p>Sabrina Garibay, 44, confirmed to The Times on Monday evening that her daughter Ashley Garibay, an In-N-Out employee, was killed. She said she provided a statement to the burger chain that would be released on her behalf and declined to comment further.<\/p>\n<p>On the crowdfunding site <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/ashley-my-in-n-out-all-star-tragedy-and-a-life-taken-so-soo-uhwyv\" target=\"_blank\">GoFundMe,<\/a> Garibay described her daughter as an amazing soul with \u201ca radiant heart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAshley is a beloved daughter, sister, auntie and a best friend to everyone,\u201d she wrote. \u201cShe has left a lasting impression on so many souls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ashley Garibay, who typically worked at an In-N-Out in Stockton, where she lived, often traveled across the U.S. to help open new stores and was doing that in Twin Falls when the gunman opened fire, the family said in its statement. According <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.in-n-out.com\/mediakit\/\" target=\"_blank\">to the company,<\/a> the Twin Falls location had just opened July 24.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are heartbroken and devastated by the loss of Ashley. &#8230; She was adventurous, outgoing, smart and driven, never letting obstacles get in her way,\u201d the family\u2019s statement read in part. \u201cShe lit up a room with her bright smile and a laugh that was contagious. She was a friend to all, and no matter what difficulties she was facing, she always found a way to help others find the light in the darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement said In-N-Out was Ashley\u2019s first job and that she dreamed of managing one of the stores.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"christopher-claunch\" class=\"subhead\">Christopher Claunch<\/h2>\n<p>Another California native reportedly was killed in Saturday\u2019s shooting. The New York Times <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/08\/02\/us\/gunman-acted-alone-in-idaho-in-n-out-attack-authorities-say.html\" target=\"_blank\">identified<\/a> the victim as Christopher Claunch.<\/p>\n<p>His sister <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/08\/02\/us\/gunman-acted-alone-in-idaho-in-n-out-attack-authorities-say.html\" target=\"_blank\">told the outlet<\/a> that Claunch lived in Idaho for about 30 years but always stopped to eat at the burger joint whenever he was in California.<\/p>\n<p>Claunch was from Southern California, according to reporting <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/ktla.com\/news\/california\/l-a-county-native-california-woman-among-those-killed-in-idaho-in-n-out-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\">by KTLA<\/a>. He grew up in the Santa Clarita community of Canyon Country.<\/p>\n<p>Garren Taylor, one of Claunch\u2019s friends, told the Associated Press that, two years ago, Claunch completed a rehab program for alcohol abuse at Renaissance Ranch Recovery Center in Rupert, Idaho, and was immediately hired there. Taylor said Claunch, known to those close to him as \u201cToph,\u201d had since then dedicated his life to helping others get sober.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe helped hundreds of people,\u201d Taylor told AP. \u201cHe was just a gift to anyone he came in contact with. It wasn\u2019t about the paycheck, his attitude was: \u2018I get to help someone today.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"other-victims\" class=\"subhead\">Other victims<\/h2>\n<p>The third person killed in the shooting has not been identified.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the wounded were treated and released at the scene, three were in stable condition, and two others were in critical condition as of Sunday. Their conditions were not immediately known on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>In a Facebook post, Marcus Scott said his son Austin \u201cA.J.\u201d Scott was critically wounded in the attack and faces a long recovery.
