Once known as Hollywood\u2019s golden couple, the duo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/style\/2016\/11\/nicole-kidman-describes-meeting-tom-cruise\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"text link\">met when Kidman auditioned<\/a> for <em>Days of Thunder<\/em>, a 1990 auto-racing epic that left the 22-year-old Kidman swept off her feet, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2002\/12\/kidman-200212\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"text link\">telling <em>Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> &#8220;I was consumed by it, willingly.\u201d In December 1990, the pair married, but 11 years later, in February of 2001, the couple announced their separation. According to rumors, their long and intense time on the set of Kubrick\u2019s final masterpiece irreparably disrupted the balance between the two, speculation fueled by a 2024 interview Kidman gave for the film&#8217;s 25th anniversary. \u201cWe had a home 10 minutes away, but we lived in that trailer. Tom and I shared it because Stanley would say, \u2018You\u2019re not each getting a trailer.
