While Netflix is best known for either multi-season shows like <em>Stranger Things<\/em> and <em>Wednesday<\/em> or for canceling shows prematurely, the streamer also has a fair range of great limited series. Some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/best-tv-shows-on-netflix\/\" target=\"_blank\">best shows on Netflix<\/a>, in fact, were planned out as a single, standalone season that told a complete story, like <em>The Haunting of Hill House<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><\/p>\n<p>One of the absolute best limited series on Netflix is <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/db\/tv-show\/cyberpunk-edgerunners\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Cyberpunk: Edgerunners<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, which takes place in the same world as the <em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> video game and <em>Cyberpunk<\/em> TTRPG. As the name suggests, <em>Edgerunners<\/em> is an animated sci-fi cyberpunk show that follows David Martinez as he dives headfirst into the world of illegal mercenary work and extremely dangerous cybernetic implants, all while seeking revenge against the mega-corporations that rule Night City.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cyberpunk: Edgerunners<\/em> is, simply put, one of the best miniseries on Netflix. It boasts 100% approval with critics and 95% approval with viewers on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/tv\/cyberpunk_edgerunners\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, it revitalized <em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> after its notoriously buggy launch, and it got untold thousands of viewers hooked on the franchise. It&#8217;s a remarkably beautiful and tragic story that transcends its genre, and it&#8217;s widely regarded as one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/best-anime-series-ever-ranked\/\" target=\"_blank\">greatest anime series ever made<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s clear to see why <em>Cyberpunk: Edgerunners<\/em> is so beloved, but even with its popularity, a sequel seemed out of the question. The show was marketed as a miniseries, and the ending of <em>Edgerunners<\/em> brought a very definitive conclusion to the story of David and his friends. CD Projekt Red, the creators of <em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>, announced last year that <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/cyberpunk-edgerunners-2-netflix-first-full-trailer\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2<\/em><\/a> will be premiering on Netflix in the fall of 2026. Despite being titled as a sequel, however, <em>Edgerunners 2<\/em> won&#8217;t be continuing David Martinez&#8217;s story.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, <em>Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2<\/em> is telling a new, standalone story with new characters by using the show&#8217;s animation style and the same setting. Four new characters have been revealed so far: Weak, a &#8220;washed-up cyberpunk legend,&#8221; D, a &#8220;deadly nomad,&#8221; Roman, a young boy who aspires to be a documentarian, and Talia, a member of the cybernetic-obsessed Maelstrom gang.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>David is dead. But Night City lives on.<\/p>\n<p>Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077\u2014 a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Clearly, <em>Edgerunners<\/em> season 1 was such a hit that CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger decided that returning to the show was worth it. Now, instead of being a single-season miniseries, <em>Edgerunners<\/em> is becoming something closer to an anthology series, with each season following a new cast in a new story, tied together only by Night City. While the two seasons won&#8217;t be directly connected, David Martinez&#8217;s story is a perfect introduction to Night City and the Cyberpunk franchise as a whole. Watching <em>Edgerunners<\/em> season 1 can introduce new viewers to the same chrome, slang, mega-corporations and gangs that <em>Edgerunners 2<\/em> will undoubtedly center around.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, <em>Edgerunners<\/em> season 1 is just a great show on its own. As previously mentioned, David&#8217;s story is one of the most gripping and tragically beautiful shows ever made. It has intense action, a melancholy romance story, heart-wrenching emotional stakes, beautfiul animation, and basically everything you could want out of a sci-fi series.
