their seat belt, stranding the passengers until the following day.<\/p>\n<p>The ludicrous incident occurred on Thursday, Aug. 6, after Porter Airlines flight PD444 had departed the terminal at Victoria International Airport (YYJ) in British Columbia and was prepping to take off for Toronto, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/vancouver\/article\/child-standing-in-seat-and-refusing-a-seatbelt-cancels-flight-from-victoria-airline-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CTV News reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, their trip hit a hiccup after crew-members noticed the tyke \u201cstanding in their seat\u201d and refusing to \u201csecure their seatbelt,\u201d Porter Airlines reps off in this unsafe condition, so the crew elected to return to the terminal and have the passengers disembark,\u201d the carrier\u2019s reps recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, by the time the family had deplaned and filed the requisite paper work, it was past 12:30am, which is when the runway shutters. <\/p>\n<p>As a result, they had to reschedule the trip for the following day, forcing the flyers to stay the night in Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>Their flight departed on Friday at 10:49 am local time and touched down in Toronto at 6:16 am, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flightaware.com\/live\/flight\/POE444\/history\/20260808\/0540Z\/CYYJ\/CYYZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FlightAware.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter the first time a toddler\u2019s antics have impacted a flight.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, a frustrated flyer took to Reddit to complain that their flight to Sweden <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/12\/lifestyle\/flight-delay-caused-by-unruly-toddler-sparks-massive-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was an hour behind <\/a>because \u201cincompetent parents\u201d couldn\u2019t make their 3-year-old \u201cbrat\u201d sit in his seat while the crew was prepping for takeoff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApparently, he was too old to safely sit in his parents\u2019 lap,\u201d they wrote. \u201cSo after much screaming from the child, the parents were forced to deboard. We then had to go through the whole thing of refuelling, weights and balance, removing their bags etc.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would seriously pay extra to go on adult-only flights,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>Their account divided commenters with some blaming the parents while others claimed that some toddlers are too difficult to wrangle even for seasoned guardians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven good, experienced parents can\u2019t control a toddler at some point,\u201d said one. \u201cThe\u00a0toddler meltdown is known far and wide and the phenomenon still baffles scientists to this day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They treated it like a plane-ground.
