One of his first credits was the James Bond movie <em>Tomorrow Never Dies<\/em>, and he achieved wide recognition in the United States with <em>300<\/em>. In more recent years, Butler has entertained audiences on this front with the likes of <em>Plane<\/em>, <em>Kandahar<\/em>, <em>Den of Thieves 2: Pantera<\/em>, and the live-action <em>How to Train Your Dragon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Most of those movies see Butler\u2019s characters dealing with human antagonists, but there are also a few where he goes up against the forces of nature. 2020\u2019s <em>Greenland<\/em> saw him playing a father trying to ensure his family\u2019s survival ahead of a massive comet striking Earth, and this year\u2019s <em>Greenland 2: Migration<\/em> explored the aftermath of this apocalyptic event. Prior to his Greenland outings, Butler starred in a different kind of disaster movie called <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/db\/movie\/geostorm\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>Geostorm<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, but it won\u2019t be available to stream for free much longer.<\/p>\n<p>After being added to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/tubitv.com\/movies\/100002273\/geostorm\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Tubi<\/a><\/em> on August 1, <em>Geostorm<\/em> is already set to leave the platform at the end of the month. After that, the 2017 movie will only be accessible online by purchasing or renting it on platforms like Apple TV, Prime Video, and YouTube. Other movies departing Tubi in August <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/jim-carrey-me-myself-irene-backlash-leaving-streaming-tubi-august-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\">include Jim Carrey\u2019s 2000 cult classic<\/a> <em>Me, Myself, &amp; Irene<\/em>, the <em>Twilight<\/em> movies, the <em>Lethal Weapon<\/em> movies, and the <em>Friday<\/em> movies, among many others.<\/p>\n<p> Last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/geostorm-movie-netflix-viewership-global-success-streaming-charts\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Geostorm<\/em> proved to be a big hit on Netflix<\/a>, ranking No. 4 on the platform\u2019s global chart of the Top 10 English-language movies for the week of March 31 through April 6. Then in September, <em>Geostorm<\/em> shifted to HBO Max, where it experienced similar worldwide success. Its availability on the latter service was fitting considering the movie was originally released by Warner Bros. Pictures, but in August 2026, Tubi has <em>Geostorm<\/em> all to itself.<\/p>\n<p><em>Geostorm<\/em> stars Butler as Jake Lawson, the chief architect of the \u201cDutch Boy\u201d system of climate-controlling satellites. Despite being removed from the project, Jake is sent to the International Climate Space Station to investigate the malfunctioning satellites, which leads to the creation of a \u201cgeostorm\u201d capable of destroying Earth. Butler\u2019s co-stars include Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Alexandra Maria Lara, Ed Harris, and Andy Garcia. Dean Devlin directed <em>Geostorm<\/em>, as well as wrote the script with Paul Guyot, and produced alongside David Ellison and Dana Goldberg.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being such a streaming powerhouse in 2025, this Butler-led movie is far from a critical darling. <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/geostorm-2017-gerard-butler-worst-reviews-most-brutal\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Geostorm<\/em> was bombarded with negative reviews<\/a> ahead of its release on October 20, 2017, with the movie ranking on Rotten Tomatoes with an 18% Tomatometer and 35% Popcornmeter. It also failed to impress at the box office, making just $221.6 million worldwide off a reported budget in the $120-130 million range.<\/p>\n<p>Following <strong><em>Geostorm<\/em><\/strong>\u2019s departure from Tubi, Butler will next be seen reprising Stoick the Vast in the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/how-to-train-your-dragon-2-confirmation-release-date-updates\/\" target=\"_blank\">live-action <em>How to Train Your Dragon 2<\/em><\/a>, which arrives in theaters on June 11, 2027. He\u2019s also starring with Hayley Atwell and Omari Hardwick in the action thriller <em>Empire City<\/em>, which doesn\u2019t have a release date yet.<\/p>\n<div class=\"display-card type-screen
