On it, Young sings of the life he\u2019s experienced, with lines such as, \u201c<em>I dream a way of living \/ A way of sharing what we find \/ A way of walking slowly through the smokey leaves of time<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Neil Young &amp; The Chrome Hearts - Second Song (Official Lyric Video)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JZnzpxrHM4M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He\u2019d previously<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/neil-young-is-back-in-the-studio-writing-songs-about-the-worst-president-in-the-history-of-our-country-3934456\"> revealed that he was channelling anger at the Trump administration into the new album<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolitics today is sad and depressing for me. I can\u2019t do it anymore. I can go out and demonstrate my feelings about it. We have the worst president in the history of our country. Every day a bad TV show produced by DJT is what we get,\u201d he wrote at the time.<\/p>\n<p>In spite of this, he said music was bringing him more joy. \u201cNow, thankfully, once again, I\u2019m in the studio recording a new album with the Chrome Hearts. I love the songs and the feelings of life and love. Music is. So far we have eight new songs. They make me feel,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>This remains to be the case on the new album with a press release stating: \u201cIn times when lives are tested, this is music that gathers the past into a hopefulness for the future.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2026_SecondSongArtwork.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt allows those hearing the inner feelings of what gives Neil Young himself the belief needed to face our obstacles in their deepest divisions. 2026 faces us in ways society hasn\u2019t been faced before. It is not a time to look away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, he shared a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/neil-young-shares-new-anti-trump-protest-song-big-crime-3890056\">song criticising Trump called \u2018Big Crime\u2019<\/a>, where he hit out at the Republican party leader, and he also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/neil-young-not-scared-of-trump-backs-bruce-springsteen-and-taylor-swift-in-fight-against-us-president-3863836\">told his fans that Trump was \u201cout of control\u201d and \u201cwe need a real president\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>More recently, Young cancelled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/neil-young-to-headline-blenheim-palace-festival-2026-with-elvis-costello-3910882\">his entire UK and European tour<\/a>\u00a0and said \u201cthis is not the time\u201d to be playing shows.<\/p>\n<p>He later\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/neil-young-breaks-silence-on-cancelling-2026-uk-and-european-tour-dates-3931883\">provided some clarity on his reasons for axing the tour<\/a>. Replying to a fan who was checking \u201ceverything is OK\u201d, Young wrote: \u201cAll is good Michael. Just needed a break.
