Leyden captioned <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PenguinSix\/status\/2085721975893213281?s=20\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PenguinSix\/status\/2085721975893213281?s=20\">his original pictures<\/a> claiming he had seen \u201ccuts in the expansion joints on the side of the Reflecting Pool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe material was cut right where the video tape showed, for 300 feet or more. People were on their knees with their hands in the water at the exact location of the \u2018slashes,\u2019\u201d Trump<strong> <\/strong>wrote. \u201cAdditionally, there were witnesses to the VANDALISM, and the flexible areas of the material were cut with a knife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement came just days after the DOJ <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/6007499-doj-reflecting-pool-vandalism-charges-dismissal-trump-administration\/\">filed a nolle prosequi<\/a> for three individuals accused of vandalizing the pool, meaning it\u2019s no longer looking to press charges. The department also dropped charges against David Hearn, a three-time Olympic canoeist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump publicly disagreed with the investigations\u2019 conclusions, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/6006383-trump-slams-pirro-reflecting-pool\/\">saying to reporters<\/a> in the Oval Office Monday that Pirro \u201cfolded like an umbrella\u201d and \u201cchoked.\u201d His response sparked <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/video\/is-jeanine-pirro-in-trouble-with-trump-after-reflecting-pool-case-unravels-the-hill-editors-call\/12031199\/\">widespread speculation<\/a> around Pirro\u2019s job security \u2014 as Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche deferred questions about the matter to Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf President Trump wanted to fire anybody within his administration, he understands he has the power to do that. So, when he makes a decision about whether to fire a U.S. attorney or anybody else, that\u2019s his call,\u201d Blanche told reporters on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>On Tuesday, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/6010211-donald-trump-jeanine-pirro-reflecting-pool\/\">said<\/a> he had not \u201cmade a determination yet\u201d on Pirro\u2019s as a U.S. attorney \u2014 a role appointed by the president.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media Inc.
