Where do you go to school at?\u201d he said, a comment which initially prompted laughs from the audience and fellow board members.<\/p>\n<p>The girl had given a presentation and was seated next to Ervin at the meeting, video showed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Ervin was due in court Friday on the assault charge, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/08\/07\/school-board-member-who-told-student-god-youre-hot-loses-bid-re-election-tennessee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">local station WSMV4 reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The remark was widely condemned, including by Ervin&#8217;s fellow school board members who decried the \u201cgrossly inappropriate comment.\u201d He was also censured.<\/p>\n<p>The official in Washington County, about 90 minutes northeast of Knoxville, made headlines after the April remark went viral, prompting the girl&#8217;s dad to lambast him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us be absolutely clear: We do not condone Keith Ervin\u2019s behavior in any way,\u201d according to a social media post by the dad, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjhl.com\/news\/local\/disturbing-and-inappropriate-father-of-student-involved-in-school-board-incident-shares-statement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported by News Channel 11.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis actions \u2014 lewd gestures, a grossly inappropriate comment, and unwanted physical contact with a student \u2014 are unacceptable under any circumstance. Intent does not excuse impact. His refusal to acknowledge wrongdoing only deepens our concern.
