Losing Rome and Jason is not a small deal — those are two of the more important members of what at this point can only be called the Resistance. Mallory surely has to be feeling the heat, as she may be the sole comp beast remaining on that side following another comp victory this week in the BB Blockbuster.

Following Jason’s eviction, here’s how every remaining houseguest stacks up after Episode 12 of Big Brother Season 28, including who’s playing the strongest game, who’s rising and who’s in danger.

Big Brother Season 28 Week 3 Power Rankings

1. He is one of the three reality icons and he has been an HOH, but you rarely see people talking poorly about him. I think Rick has done an outstanding job with his social game, specifically this week with Drew and Barrett where, if you watch the live feeds, you saw that he somehow managed to get them off their position of wanting to keep Mallory in a potential vote against LaLa without engendering much blowback. Moreover, one of the two players who was thinking of potentially targeting Devens — Jason — has now been evicted.

The other element that factors into this is Devens’ win in the BB Time Capsule. Devens earned the Diamond Power of Veto, which is a HUGE advantage for him and his game. Not only that, but somehow Angela seems to realize he has it but is OK with him not revealing that truth to her. That is relatively unlike Angela, who tends to see ghosts around every corner and easily spirals into paranoia in the house. It also shows just how much trust she has in Devens.

The fact of the matter is, Devens is a major part of a super majority that is running the house thus far. Sure there are cracks in the foundation — i.e. Drew and Barrett — but he’s cultivated a strong enough side relationship with them that they still trust and want to work with him, even as he is beginning to sour on the both of them. Anyway you slice it, Devens has played a masterful game to this point. Uncle Jeff would be proud.

Mallory (+3)

So I have competing thoughts on Mallory, which limited her in how I ranked her this week.

On the one hand, she’s proven that she is something of a comp beast, winning the Power of Veto in Week 1 and the BB Blockbuster this week. I think if a resistance is going to be built in opposition to the current house majority, it is going to have to start with Mallory and her combination of brains and brawn.

On the other hand, being the main comp beast on that side of the house paints a target on her back. It’s almost a guarantee that anytime a member of the Toolshed is in power, she’s probably going to find herself on the block. She’s gone 2-for-2 in taking herself off the block this season, but having to do so repeatedly takes its toll. And, to be real, her social game to this point has been limited. She’s tried to flip Barrett to her side of the house, but he folded quite easily when Devens applied pressure despite voting to keep Mallory clearly being better for Barrett’s game.

So Mallory successfully took herself off the block this week, successfully cementing her reputation in competitions. But I think if something doesn’t change in the power dynamic of the house, she’s going to be in trouble.

Yash (+6)

What world am I living in where I moved Yash up six spots?!?

If you’ve followed by coverage this season, you know I haven’t held a high opinion on Yash. To this point, Yash and Chuk have basically been on vacation in the house, chilling and doing little actual gameplay. They were sort of just there as NPCs. And I think other people in the house held a similar view of him as well. But, things began to change a bit for him this week.

Yash started to play a better social game, particularly with the women of the house. Yash earned a deserved reputation of only wanting to work with the men, a fact the house was openly talking about. Make no mistake, Yash still loves to bro out. And I think given his druthers, he still overwhelmingly prefers working with the guys. But I think the Werewolves alliance he made with Devens, Dee and Kamu is a big step forward for him.

Sure he’s the clear bottom of that alliance, but it never hurts to work with the house majority. And given how the tide is turning against Drew within that side of the house, this could open the door for Yash to take his spot in that alliance. All in all, Yash is finally making moves while Chuk, on the other side, continues to be a mere floater afraid to get any blood on his hands to the point of annoying his own allies.

Notable Fallers

Drew (-10)

What a fall from grace.

Last week I had Drew at No. 1 in my power rankings. However, I noted that while I thought he was playing the best game in the house at the time there was “danger brewing for him within his own alliance. Angela is getting more and more paranoid about him and she is pulling Dee and Devens into her anti-Drew vortex.” Well, that anti-Drew drumbeat has only gotten louder within the Toolshed.

In my recap of Wednesday’s Live Feeds, I noted that the walls seem to be closing in on Drew. It’s gotten so bad that even Devens, who seemed to be the biggest Drew fan in the Crossovers alliance, is now openly talking about backdooring him. Not only that, but as I noted above, Yash could be coming for his spot in the majority. Yash was basically seen as a fake ally to be used until recently, but now he may have usurped Drew and Barrett in Devens’ eyes. The closer his allies get to Yash, the easier it makes for them to cut Drew loose.

And perhaps more problematic for Drew is the fact that I think Drew is whistling past the graveyard if he doesn’t wake up fast and switch sides in the house. He and Barrett went to Devens to make their pitch to keep Mallory over LaLa should that have been the block on Thursday night. Devens wasn’t hearing it, however, and eventually worked them around to the point where they were talking themselves into working against their own best interests and voting to evict Mallory. Make it make sense! The only good news was they didn’t have to make this mistake, which surely would have had a negative impact in Drew’s relationship with Melody.

Drew keeps talking about wanting to play Big Brother, but if he really wants to play Big Brother he has to turn on the Toolshed. It’s questionable whether or not he and Barrett even like the people in their own alliance anymore (especially the Red Corner). What’s not questionable is where Drew stands in the Toolshed — firmly at the bottom of the totem pole with a big target on his back among his own allies.

Barrett (-5)

I’m probably going to be brief here with Barrett, as most of what I said above about Drew also applies to Barrett.

He came off looking completely meek and neutered when he talked himself into going along with the plan to evict Mallory. He started off that conversation with Devens implying that he had no wiggle room — Barrett felt he HAD to save Mallory for his game. By the end of the conversation, not only has he agreed to throw his best non-Toolshed ally under the bus, but he has convinced himself that he has no other option.

Newsflash, Barrett — you have a very easy option. You switch to the other side! You have talked about how you feel disastified with your place in the Toolshed totem pole, that you didn’t like how you were the last person called up to Devens’ HOH room to discuss the Rome backdoor plan. And you seem to have a decent connection with the other side of the house, especially Mallory. Why are you sticking with people you don’t even like?

If Barrett and Drew woke up and switched sides that could be a major shift in the game, especially with the numbers on that side dwindling. Barrett and Drew really are just biding time until the Toolshed chooses to discard them at this point. Why not take that shot first and attempt to help the resistance finally deliver a blow to the majority?

LaTrice (-2)

Poor LaLa. I’m not sure what to say here that can help her. It feels like at this point she’s got no shot to win this thing and is just biding time until she’s sent packing.

Despite having a story that in the preseason that seemed likely to make her a house favorite, it’s gone in the other direction. Maybe it’s because she’s one of the older houseguests, but she hasn’t connected with anyone outside of Taylor. She’s also become seen as the house mother, and not in a good way. She’s doing the cooking and the cleaning, but it seems like she’s getting no credit for it. In fact, some of the houseguests, like Yash and Chuk in one of their more annoying moments, actually mocking her for it.

LaLa would have beaten Mallory in a vote this week, but that largely has nothing to do with her and everything to do with Mallory’s potential threat to the majority. The majority wasn’t looking to pick LaLa up as a number, rather they were looking to use LaLa staying as a way to weaken the other side of the house. That’s not a good sign for your game.

Who was evicted on Big Brother on Thursday?

With a unanimous 12-0 vote, JASON became the third person evicted from the Big Brother house in Season 28.

Who remains in the cast for Big Brother Season 28?

With JASON becoming the third evictee in Big Brother Season 28, 14 houseguests remain in the Big Brother house.
