Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)<\/a> was discharged from a rehab facility and has returned home amid his lengthy absence from Congress, he said in a statement released Thursday by his office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The big picture: <\/strong>The 84-year-old lawmaker was hospitalized in June and has not been seen in public since, outside of images released by his office.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li>The mystery of McConnell&#8217;s continued absence has fueled questions about his capacity to serve the remainder of his term, which ends in January 2027. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Driving the news:<\/strong> &#8220;On the advice of my doctors, I&#8217;ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I&#8217;ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business,&#8221; McConnell said in his statement.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The GOP stalwart, who is currently serving his seventh term, confirmed last month that he was hospitalized following a fall and was &#8220;briefly unconscious.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Gov.
