It would\u2019ve been nice if they said what the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/netflix\/\">Netflix<\/a> show is going to be, but I assume, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/08\/06\/gta-6-getting-extended-preview-trailer-netflix-this-month-29314072\/\">like you said<\/a>, that it\u2019s going to be a bunch of celebs, who are also in the game as voiceovers, saying how great it is and then a fair bit of gameplay footage. If it\u2019s an hour long, then maybe 20 minutes? I\u2019d be disappointed if it was less than that.<\/p>\n<p>My guess is that they will talk about GTA Online 2, or whatever it ends up being, even if it\u2019s not available at launch. I think they don\u2019t want it at launch though. They didn\u2019t for <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2018\/10\/25\/red-dead-redemption-ii-review-the-good-the-fantastic-and-the-beautiful-8073719\/\">Red Dead Redemption 2<\/a>, even though they probably could\u2019ve had it, because I think they want people to play the story first.<\/p>\n<p>They want people to get used to the controls and everything, but I think it\u2019s more that they know if they have online from the start nobody will ever bother playing the story. Take-Two probably want to get the microtransactions rolling ASAP, but <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/rockstar-games\/\">Rockstar<\/a> are proud of their single-player modes, and I think they\u2019ll want to give it time to shine.<br \/><strong>Cranston<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>No choice<\/strong><br \/>Not that I had any doubt but, that that <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/08\/06\/ps5-boxes-updated-physical-games-warning-label-politicians-call-sony-29313035\/\">sticker on the box<\/a> of <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/playstation-5\/\">PlayStation 5<\/a> consoles makes it certain that they\u2019re never giving up on being all-digital. Put up with it and do everything they want or\u2026 get a PC or <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/nintendo-switch-2\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Switch 2<\/a>. There really isn\u2019t anything else that even counts as an option. I know I don\u2019t really want to do either of those things but then I\u2019m also not all that interesting Wolverine or Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, so maybe I wouldn\u2019t be losing that much.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s all a bad situation and I massively resent <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/sony\/\">Sony<\/a> for not only doing it but for the way they\u2019ve handled it, which is basically to just dump the decision on us and then leave. Like GC said, there\u2019s no conversation going on here.<br \/><strong>Gardor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>65 million years in the waiting<\/strong><br \/>I so hope that <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/08\/06\/onimusha-way-sword-hands-on-preview-another-successful-capcom-reboot-29312777\/\">Onimusha: Way Of The Sword<\/a> is a hit. I\u2019m looking forward to it, and I liked the originals, but the most important thing is that it\u2019s the best route to getting a comeback for Dino Crisis. Capcom has been beating round the bush on it for years now and even trolling fans with Exoprimal. But if they resurrect Onimusha then Dino Crisis is the obvious next step, there can\u2019t be anything else that makes sense.<\/p>\n<p>Well, we need a new Devil May Cry, obviously, but something must be going on with that. It\u2019s already popular so I assume they\u2019ve just had some trouble in development or something. It might have taken me four years to get this far but I wouldn\u2019t mind a continuation of the series.<\/p>\n<p>Has there been any news of a sequel? 3 was a big (easier) improvement over 2, which was very old school and is like the fourth to continue this trajectory, being better again.<br \/><strong>Bobwallett<\/strong><br \/>PS: I\u2019ve re-bought several of my PlayStation 4 games on <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/xbox\/\">Xbox<\/a>, so I\u2019d like to offer them to the readers that haven\u2019t played them. Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War, Far Cry 5, and Far Cry Primal. All on PlayStation 4.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>GC: <\/strong>Wasteland 4 seems unlikely, given none of the games have been major hits. I tried to use someone else\u2019s Hotmail, but it now seems linked to my account whenever I put in that stupid link they give you, so I have had to reset my security which means a 30 day wait. Unreal.<\/p>\n<p>I really wish I had stuck to my guns knowing about all this beforehand and not bought it, rather than try to jump through Microsoft\u2019s hoops. Lesson well and truly learnt.<br \/><strong>Simon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Games of the year<\/strong><br \/>Surprised to see<a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/08\/06\/big-walk-dethroned-forza-horizon-6-top-rated-game-2026-29313959\/\"> Big Walk reviewing so well<\/a>. I thought the trailers made it look pretty bad, but then you mentioned they weren\u2019t very good in <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/08\/05\/big-walk-review-opposite-friendslop-29300542\/\">your review<\/a>, which I appreciate. We all know GTA 6 is going to top the list by the end of the year, whether it deserves to or not (and it might, I\u2019m not saying it won\u2019t) so it\u2019s a bit of a shame that\u2019s going to overshadow all the other great games that have been released this year.<\/p>\n<p>This has definitely been a great year for games and we\u2019re barely halfway through, which is kind of ironic giving the layoffs and publishers acting so awful all the time. I\u2019m genuinely surprised that anyone can even make anything decent under those conditions, but then a lot of the best ones are Japanese or indie.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder what\u2019s going to happen when Gears Of War: E-Day flops or what will happen if Fable doesn\u2019t do well either. Halo has already stumbled this year but if more of Xbox\u2019s <em>big<\/em> names go down then I think that\u2019s when they\u2019re going to pull the plug on it all.<\/p>\n<p>You can\u2019t say multiformat is the way to go when PlayStation owners already don\u2019t care about Halo. Forza Horizon 6 should do much better but where\u2019s the advertising for it? If Microsoft hasn\u2019t cancelled it, it sure seems like they\u2019re trying to pretend they have.<\/p>\n<p>Or alternatively, what if E-Day does really well as an Xbox exclusive? Does that mean everything else will be in the future? I really couldn\u2019t guess how things are going to go at the moment, everything seems so messed up.<br \/><strong>Grackle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential viewing<\/strong><br \/>Is this 21st August extended look the long-awaited Trailer 3 for GTA 6 or is it three minutes of what we have seen and 57 minutes of them talking about how good and how excited they are about the game?<\/p>\n<p>And also, with this being on Netflix they must of paid a good chuck of cash for them to show it. It was very thought provoking and well written, although I wouldn\u2019t expect anything less from you guys and let\u2019s be honest this ain\u2019t your first rodeo, so you knew it was a good article.<\/p>\n<p>It did make me think about the gaming crash of 1983, where everything was oversaturated to the point games where being made in someone\u2019s bedroom with a deadline of two weeks to get it out.<\/p>\n<p>There were too many options and not enough quality, which is what ultimately made the floor fall out beneath them.<\/p>\n<p>Although to jump to their defence, back then it was a really new form of media and everyone was just trying to find their feet and companies were trying to make as much money as possible (so nothing new there). Mistakes were made and it proved quite fatal for many games companies.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to today and we are right on the other end of that rainbow, where games take a long time to make. I\u2019ve never really had a problem with this as such, as Shigeru Miyamoto famously once said \u2018a delayed game might eventually become good, but a rushed game will forever be bad\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Very few companies take any risks these days. The money is in the big budget triple-A games and it\u2019s starting to look like a future of yearly iterations of football and NFL along with a bit of Call Of Duty and every 15 years or so a Grand Theft Auto set in a city they\u2019ve already done multiple times.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know what the answer is, but it does look like history is repeating itself in the sense that gaming seems hell bent on imploding on itself.<\/p>\n<p>I would love to hear from someone who was programming games back in the early \u201880s and what they have learned since then and if they could go back, what would they say to their younger self to make themselves stand out?<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully one of those guys is on here and does a Reader\u2019s Feature, as that would be an awesome read.<\/p>\n<p>I hate to be all doom and gloom, but it is really starting to look very bleak as far as console gaming is concerned.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not all bad though. I travel on a bus to and from work every day and the number of people playing games on their phones is staggering.<\/p>\n<p>In essence these people are gamers and as keen as the next person who likes games. The difference is their joy of gaming is very accessible, cheap and fun.<\/p>\n<p>Next gen consoles are rumoured to be over \u00a31,000 that\u2019s a lot of money to fork out just to play yearly updates of football games, Call Of Duty, and the odd Grand Theft Auto on a console that is probably not a major graphical leap over its predecessor.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not accessibility, that\u2019s a VIP lounge that is serving the same drinks as the bar but at a higher price.<\/p>\n<p>One thing is for sure, it will be very interesting where this takes us.
