But his best bet at a potential Oscar nomination is perhaps <i>Primetime<\/i>, in which he stars as Chris Hansen, host and creator of <i>To Catch a Predator<\/i>. The upcoming A24 movie, directed by Lance Oppenheim, covers the rise of the <i>Dateline<\/i> program that changed television \u2014 maybe not for the better.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Ajon Singh and based on the article by Luke Dittrich, <i>Primetime<\/i> also stars <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/tag\/merritt-wever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Merritt Wever<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/tag\/skyler-gisondo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Skyler Gisondo<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/phoebe-bridgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phoebe Bridgers<\/a> \u2014 the latter making her official acting debut with the film, taking a break from <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/08\/phoebe-bridgers-lost-weekend-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">creating lyrical masterworks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new trailer irises in on Hansen\u2019s determination to turn his show into a juggernaut, dancing with glee at the idea that his show could be bigger than the 2000s-era broadcast hit <i>Lost<\/i>. We also see Gisondo playing a young man hired to act as \u201cbait\u201d for the show, Wever serving as Hansen\u2019s loyal lieutenant, and even a glimpse of a brunette Bridgers in character.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p><i>Primetime<\/i> kicks off in theaters on September 25th, 2026.
