{"id":29850,"date":"2026-08-06T13:19:01","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T08:19:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=29850"},"modified":"2026-08-06T13:19:01","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T08:19:01","slug":"missouri-mom-jessica-lashly-and-daughter-jersey-greer-killed-by-neighbor-in-murder-suicide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=29850","title":{"rendered":"Missouri mom Jessica Lashly and daughter Jersey Greer killed by neighbor in murder suicide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F08%2F136623059.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A Missouri mother and her teenage daughter were shot and killed by their elderly neighbor, who confronted them outside their home over a noise complaint, before he turned the gun on himself and died days later. <\/p>\n<p>Jessica Lashly, 38, and Jersey Greer, 17, were gunned down at their House Springs, Mo., home when 73-year-old Robert Winkelman confronted the pair around 8:30 p.m. on July 25, the Jefferson County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<p>Winkelman had walked over to his neighbor\u2019s home to complain about \u201cactivities at the residence\u201d when he confronted Lashly. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jessica Lashly and Jersey Greer died on July 27 after they were shot in the head by their neighbor outside their home on July 25, 2026.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He pulled a gun and shot Jessica Lashly in the head after she made a comment that angered the elderly man, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Greer rushed to give first aid to her wounded mother, but the crazed neighbor fired his gun at the teen, also striking her in the head.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cJersey\u2019s last moments, she was trying to save my mom,\u201d Greer\u2019s twin sister, Justice, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksdk.com\/article\/news\/crime\/i-dont-know-how-to-live-without-her-twin-sister-remembers-jefferson-county-teen-and-mother-killed-in-shooting\/63-1a84aea7-c660-4a2d-8ec3-6485e55a7730\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told KSDK.<\/a> \u201cIt just shows how brave she is, and I hope I can be half as brave as she is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Justice Greer, who was at work during the shooting, says her mother and sister had just returned to the house when Winkelman accosted them. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey had just gotten home, and I kept thinking I wish my mom weren\u2019t outside at that time. Obviously it wasn\u2019t her fault. She was really supportive about anything and everything. As her lacrosse family, we have witnessed her strength, determination, and the incredible person she is both on and off the field. Now it\u2019s our turn to stand beside her and her family,\u201d the team wrote in a GoFundMe.<\/p>\n<p>Following the deaths of Lashly and Greer, officials obtained a no-bond arrest warrant for Winkelman, who was still hospitalized in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p>He was charged with two counts of Assault in the First Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.<\/p>\n<p>Winkelman, however, died Sunday from his gunshot wound and is unable to be tried for the horrific murder, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=1359715316291998&amp;set=pb.100067606285049.-2207520000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sheriff\u2019s office said<\/a> in an update on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><em>If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts or are experiencing a mental health crisis and live in New York City, you can call 1-888-NYC-WELL for free and confidential crisis counseling.
