{"id":29513,"date":"2026-08-06T06:43:31","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T01:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=29513"},"modified":"2026-08-06T06:43:31","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T01:43:31","slug":"violent-night-2-producer-says-mrs-claus-was-almost-in-first-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=29513","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Violent Night 2&#8217; Producer Says Mrs. Claus Was Almost In First Movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last Christmas, David Harbour\u2019s Santa nearly gave his heart to the wrong Mrs. Claus, but the very next day, the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/violent-night\/\" id=\"auto-tag_violent-night\" data-tag=\"violent-night\">Violent Night<\/a><\/em> writers threw that scene away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/kristen-bell\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kristen-bell\" data-tag=\"kristen-bell\">Kristen Bell<\/a> debuts her Mrs. Claus in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/violent-night-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_violent-night-2\" data-tag=\"violent-night-2\">Violent Night 2<\/a><\/em>, premiering Dec. 4, producer <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/kelly-mccormick\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kelly-mccormick\" data-tag=\"kelly-mccormick\">Kelly McCormick<\/a> revealed that the character was almost introduced at the end of the 2022 holiday action comedy, but that version would have been a \u201ctotally different\u201d character.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe almost put a button in the back of <em>Violent Night<\/em> with Mrs. Claus,\u201d McCormick told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slashfilm.com\/2229981\/violent-night-credits-scene-mrs-claus-not-kristen-bell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">SlashFilm<\/a>. \u201cIf we would\u2019ve done that, she would\u2019ve been somebody totally different in this one, and it would\u2019ve been a different movie, if she was already introduced. So it was really hard. To be honest, we overthought it to the point where we never made an offer for the role of Mrs. Claus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McCormick, who is David Leitch\u2019s wife and partner at 87North, couldn\u2019t be happier than with Bell in the role, praising the 3x Emmy nominee\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJust kind of through divine intervention, Kristen just sort of appeared,\u201d she noted. \u201cA lot of it was because David Harbour and she have a long friendship, and I am obsessed with her. I was like, \u2018Oh my God, we\u2019ll never get her. Are you kidding? She\u2019s busy and she\u2019s amazing.\u2019 And I don\u2019t even know. What she does as a character is this very loving sort of push toward Santa understanding how to get back on the nice list and also kicking major ass.
