{"id":29367,"date":"2026-08-06T04:04:23","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T23:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=29367"},"modified":"2026-08-06T04:04:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T23:04:23","slug":"geddy-lee-alex-lifeson-and-guest-drummers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=29367","title":{"rendered":"Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Guest Drummers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p>Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, and Danny Carey all play Rush songs with Lee and Lifeson in <em>Neil Peart: No One\u2019s Disciple, <\/em>which debuts in September\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t<!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div class=\"pmc-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tA new documentary about the late Neil Peart, Rush\u2019s drummer and lyricist, will debut on Canada\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/documentaries\/the-passionate-eye\/neil-peart-rush-documentary-9.7295424\" target=\"_blank\">CBC <\/a>network Sept. 23. <em>Neil Peart: No One\u2019s Disciple<\/em> will tell Peart\u2019s life story,\u00a0and it will also feature interviews with Rush co-founders <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/geddy-lee\/\" id=\"auto-tag_geddy-lee\" data-tag=\"geddy-lee\">Geddy Lee<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/alex-lifeson\/\" id=\"auto-tag_alex-lifeson\" data-tag=\"alex-lifeson\">Alex Lifeson<\/a>, as well with a crew of legendary drummers talking about his influence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAlso for the documentary, Lee and Lifeson filmed rehearsal hall performances of classic Rush songs with some well-known guest drummers, including the Police\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/stewart-copeland\/\" id=\"auto-tag_stewart-copeland\" data-tag=\"stewart-copeland\">Stewart Copeland<\/a>,\u00a0the Red Hot Chili Peppers\u2019 Chad Smith, and Tool\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/danny-carey\/\" id=\"auto-tag_danny-carey\" data-tag=\"danny-carey\">Danny Carey<\/a>.\u00a0The pair previously played with Smith and Carey at a Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in 2022, but had never before performed with Copeland, who was close friends with Peart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tPeart, who is widely considered one of the greatest rock drummers of all time, died of cancer in 2020.\u00a0 <br \/>\u201c[Peart] never rated himself as highly as everyone else did,\u201d Copeland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/neil-peart-rush-dead-cover-story-1110496\/\">told<\/a> <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> in 2020. \u201cBut he did very much feel the responsibility that he carried to be the God of drums. Kind of a burden, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI was thinking about a Buddy Rich quote,\u201d Peart told <em>Rolling Stone <\/em>in 2015. \u201cHe was asked, \u2018What do you think about being the greatest drummer in the world? He said, \u2018Ya know what, dummy\u2019 \u2014 the way Buddy would say it \u2014 \u2018you don\u2019t achieve greatness. If you work hard at it, you achieve a certain amount of goodness and then you just try to preserve that.\u2019 And he said, \u2018I\u2019ve never been happy with anything I\u2019ve done but I keep trying.\u2019 Bingo.
