During Trump&#8217;s first administration, he served at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, where he helped lead efforts to narrow those legal protections for online platforms under Section 230.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">And in his contribution to <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_191867\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/usa-today-columnist-attacked-caitlin-clark-goes-after-heritage-foundation-coming-title-ix\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Project 2025<\/a>, the conservative policy blueprint developed by the Heritage Foundation for a potential second Trump administration, Candeub argued that antitrust enforcement failed to account for the influence of major technology platforms over competition and the flow of information being shared.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;The large internet platforms have transformed the U.S. economy, streamlining consumer purchases, networking billions of people, and altering long-established business practices,&#8221; Candeub wrote. &#8220;Despite their enormous size, they have avoided significant antitrust liability or prosecution. The reasons for this are not entirely clear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Candeub\u2019s nomination has drawn support from former Justice Department officials, including former Attorney General <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_191868\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/person\/william-barr\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Barr<\/a>, who appointed Candeub as an associate deputy attorney general in 2020 during the first Trump administration.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_191869\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/todd-blanche-honored-humbled-trumps-ag-nomination-after-explosive-week-federal-arrests\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>TODD BLANCHE &#8216;HONORED AND HUMBLED&#8217; BY TRUMP&#8217;S AG NOMINATION AFTER EXPLOSIVE WEEK OF FEDERAL ARRESTS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Barr praised Candeub\u2019s expertise in telecommunications law and his academic background, describing him as a knowledgeable and capable leader for the Antitrust Division.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;I think he&#8217;ll be a strong leader, and he&#8217;s very knowledgeable,&#8221; Barr told Fox News Digital. &#8220;I think he&#8217;ll be balanced and fair and apply the law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Barr is among more than a dozen current and former Justice Department officials who signed a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee supporting Candeub\u2019s nomination.
