The New Orleans multidisciplinary artist has also revealed the project\u2019s latest single, \u201cenough.\u201d Stream it below.<\/p>\n<p><em>Creole Culture<\/em> is Richard\u2019s love letter to her hometown, the latest iteration of her relationship with the location after 2019\u2019s\u00a0<em>New Breed <\/em>and 2021\u2019s\u00a0<em>Second Line<\/em>. \u201c<em>Creole Culture<\/em> is my way of saying that New Orleans culture doesn\u2019t have to live in the past to be authentic,\u201d Richard reflected in a press release. \u201cIt can be progressive. It can be global. It can be pop culture. It can look like me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Per the release,\u00a0<em>Creole Culture<\/em> is \u201csteeped in history but with its flag planted firmly in the future,\u201d pulling elements from Richard\u2019s heritage as a Black and Native American woman with a lifetime spent making music. In Richard\u2019s eyes, the album is the latest installment of a fully-realized sonic and narrative universe in which she, as King Creole, re-fashions and re-constructs her hometown in her image.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>\u201cenough\u201d is adornment in aural form; in addition to exalting her city for everything it has offered her, the artist also finds time to home in on the basics. Over horn-filled production that floats on a sample of Sister Nancy\u2019s beloved 1982 track \u201cBam Bam,\u201d Dawn Richard loves on her partner while hyping herself up to the task of being a worthy partner. \u201cI never really knew love could really be like this,\u201d Richard sings. \u201cI\u2019m usually better at doing my own shit\/ But I\u2019ma try to own up and do this love drip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Listen to the song below.<\/p>\n<p>Dawn Richard will perform in select cities in the late summer and fall, starting August 8th in Chicago, followed by dates in New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
