the judge wrote in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/28535178-us-v-rhodes-opinion\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aug. 4 order<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a social media post, James Lee Bright, a lawyer for Rhodes, congratulated the defendants.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Seditious Conspiracy should never have been charged,&#8221; His plan for a $1.776 billion &#8220;anti-weaponization fund&#8221; met with bipartisan resistance in Congress. The president said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/06\/02\/nx-s1-5843356\/justice-department-says-it-will-pause-anti-weaponization-fund-after-judges-ruling\" target=\"_blank\">that fund seemed dead<\/a>, but critics say the administration could find other ways to pay the rioters.<\/p>\n<p>The Oath Keepers case unraveled this week, just as three former federal prosecutors who handled the riot cases appeared on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Those lawyers urged the U.S. Senate not to advance Trump&#8217;s judicial nominees who deny the violence that took place on Jan. 6 and refuse to answer who won the 2020 presidential election.
