{"id":28551,"date":"2026-08-05T12:48:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T07:48:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=28551"},"modified":"2026-08-05T12:48:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T07:48:24","slug":"far-left-twitch-streamer-hasan-piker-dismisses-hamass-anti-women-anti-lgbtq-stances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=28551","title":{"rendered":"Far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker dismisses Hamas&#8217;s anti-women, anti-LGBTQ stances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F08%2Fnewspress-collage-686jnfak9-1785914777136.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall%261785900448\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft wp-block-nypost-editor-partner-article-links\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Far-left Twitch streamer\u00a0Hasan Piker\u00a0downplayed Hamas\u2019 anti-women and anti-LGBTQ stances while trying to explain his apparent support for the terrorist organization during a CNN interview on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Piker, a rising figure within the Democratic Party, was featured prominently in \u201cThe Left Insurgency,\u201d an episode from the documentary series \u201cThe Whole Story With Anderson Cooper,\u201d where he spoke with reporter Donie O\u2019Sullivan about some of his more controversial comments.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Sullivan pointed to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/d12t4t5x3vyizu.cloudfront.net\/gottheimer.house.gov\/uploads\/2026\/04\/PikerOwens-Final-Text.pdf#&amp;_intcmp=fnc_media_article_main-content_article-body_6_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bipartisan House resolution<\/a>\u00a0passed in April condemning his rhetoric that some members of Congress claimed supported the terror organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I wouldn\u2019t say I express support for all of Hamas\u2019s actions or anything,\u201d Piker said in response to the resolution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do say that the Palestinian resistance largely does have an internationally recognized right to resist. Do they violate that sometimes with war crimes? Absolutely. And Hamas certainly has as well. But at the end of the day, Palestinians do have a right to resist militarily.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The House resolution highlighted Piker\u2019s past comments <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/13\/media\/young-dem-staffers-fume-over-partys-embrace-of-hasan-piker\/\">calling Hamas \u201ca thousand times better than the fascist settler colonial apartheid state\u201d of Israel<\/a> as well as his\u00a0appearance on \u201cPod Save America,\u201d\u00a0where he doubled down on the comparison.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker defended his controversial support for Hamas on CNN, claiming he\u2019d vote for them over Israel. <span class=\"credit\">Sportsfile via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve also said I\u2019m a harm-reduction voter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a lesser-evil voter and, therefore, I would vote for Hamas over Israel every single time because I\u2019m looking at the situation as a paramilitary organization that has a political party as well, a political\u00a0bureau as well that is entirely comprised not as an alien force but of orphaned children that have, you know, had their parents killed by an apartheid state that has been dominating the lives of Palestinians for 80 years at this point and have done a genocide at this point as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Sullivan pointed out that expressing support for Hamas could be seen as supporting the organization\u2019s human rights violations.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Piker dismissed Hamas\u2019s anti-women and anti-LGBTQ policies, stating he doesn\u2019t care about their \u201cdomestic policies.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIf you say you\u2019re voting for Hamas, you\u2019re voting for limited rights for women, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/02\/04\/world-news\/secret-hamas-documents-reveal-torture-execution-of-gay-terrorists\/\">you\u2019re voting for homophobia<\/a>. Like, this is \u2014 right? When you say you\u2019re voting for Hamas,\u201d O\u2019Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not an endorsement of their domestic policies,\u201d Piker said. \u201cBut I don\u2019t think anyone actually cares about their domestic policies. I certainly don\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery Palestinian, at the end of the day, regardless of their disagreements with Hamas, will always say that Israel is still \u2014 the Israeli occupation is the greatest problem that they\u2019re facing, the most existential problem that they\u2019re facing.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The Anti-Defamation League and American Jewish Committee slammed Piker\u2019s remarks, urging Democratic officials to condemn his rhetoric. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cYou understand when just the regular American\u2026 when they see all this\u2026\u201d O\u2019Sullivan followed up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, that\u2019s the purpose of that document,\u201d Piker said. \u201cThe purpose of that document is not to be like, this guy has spent the last 13 years combating far-right antisemitism and far-right radicalization, and still continues to do so to this day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs someone who\u2019s an anti-fascist, I\u2019m going to oppose Zionism, which is a fascist ideology. These guys can\u2019t defend that. So they have to attack its prominent critics.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Piker defended \u201cPalestinian resistance\u201d after a House resolution condemned his rhetoric supporting the terror group. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fox News Digital\u00a0reached out to Piker for comment but did not immediately receive a response.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a comment to Fox News Digital, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) condemned Piker\u2019s comments along with Democratic officials who continue to ignore them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHasan Piker repeated multiple times that \u2018Hamas is a thousand times better than Israel,\u2019 while also shrugging off\u00a0\u2018war crimes.\u2019\u00a0That is a person with\u00a0more than\u00a011 million followers sincerely expressing support for a designated terrorist organization, on a mainstream platform, to thunderous silence from the Democratic officials who continue to campaign and appear alongside him,\u201d\u00a0an ADL spokesperson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Participants take part in the annual Gay Pride parade on Thursday, July 21, 2016, in Jerusalem. <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThat silence has a cost,\u201d the spokesperson continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery candidate and elected official who platforms Piker or associates with him signals that this rhetoric is acceptable. It is not and never should be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The American Jewish Committee (AJC) also condemned Piker\u2019s comments, pointing Fox News Digital to its past statement on Piker\u2019s \u201cPod Save America\u201d appearance.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Piker and Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive candidate in the Democratic primary for US Senate in Michigan, at a campaign event on April 7, 2026, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cSupport for a terrorist organization is not a political viewpoint to be debated; it is a line that must not be crossed. When such rhetoric is given a platform by elected officials and prominent media voices, it risks normalizing extremism, endangering the Jewish community, and eroding the values that underpin our democracy,\u201d AJC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AJCGlobal\/status\/2044848845972988035\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAJC calls on leaders across politics, media, and civil society to exercise judgment and responsibility in the voices they elevate, and to recognize that these decisions send powerful signals about what we are willing to tolerate \u2014 and whether the safety and concerns of Jewish Americans are negotiable,\u201d the post continued.<\/p>\n<p>Piker, a self-described socialist streamer who campaigned with several Democratic politicians, has <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/04\/media\/hasan-piker-abdul-el-sayed-mock-carvilles-threats-to-leave-the-democratic-party\/\">emerged as a leading voice on the left as democratic socialists gain ground in elections<\/a> across the country.<\/p>\n<p>However, he drew widespread criticism for several controversial statements such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/22\/media\/hasan-piker-under-fire-after-framing-newspaper-covering-9-11-attacks-in-stream-background\/\">saying \u201cAmerica deserved 9\/11\u201d\u00a0in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some Democrats have spoken out against Piker\u2019s influence. Longtime\u00a0Democratic strategist James Carville\u00a0recently said that he would leave the party if it continued to embrace Piker.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t sit here and tell you for certain how this is going to turn out, but the one thing I can tell you for certain, Hasan Piker and James Carville are not going to be in the same political party. One of us is going to leave.
