Jeremy Moss (D) is projected to win the Democratic primary in the state&#8217;s 11th Congressional District, according to Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Moss, the president pro tempore of the Michigan Senate since January 2023, defeated a crowded field of five other Democrats in the primary. His victory puts him on a glide path to succeed Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), who ran in the party&#8217;s primary in the race to replace retiring Michigan Sen. Gary Peters (D) on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In the general election, Moss will face Republican Ethan Baker, who ran unopposed in the GOP primary. Baker has been the mayor of Troy, Mich., since 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Moss first entered the Michigan House in 2015, before moving over to the state Senate four years later. If elected in November, the 40-year-old would become the first openly gay member of Congress from Michigan.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Stevens has represented the 11th district since January 2019, after she defeated Republican Lena Epstein <a data-ylk=\"slk:by less than 7 points;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/votes.decisiondeskhq.com\/races\/2018-11-06\/michigan-us-house-11-general-election\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">by less than 7 points<\/a> in her first race.
