The project continues in the current of success of Prime Video\u2019s <em>Every Year After<\/em>, based on Fortune\u2019s debut novel <em>Every Summer After<\/em>, which recently <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/06\/every-year-after-renewed-season-2-one-golden-summer-1236954005\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/06\/every-year-after-renewed-season-2-one-golden-summer-1236954005\/\">received a Season 2 renewal<\/a> at Prime Video\u2019s inaugural Obsessed Fest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For everything we know about the <em>This Summer Will Be Different<\/em> show heading to Netflix, read on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When will Netflix\u2019s <em>This Summer Will Be Different<\/em> come out?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no release date yet, as the show is in early stages of production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Has <em>This Summer Will be Different<\/em> started production yet?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, Netflix and author Carley Fortune revealed that the series has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbmLXqjDEsx\/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">started production<\/a> on Prince Edward Island, home of <em>Anne of Green Gables<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who is in the cast of Netflix\u2019s <em>This Summer Will Be Different<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deadline <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/07\/sophie-nelisse-lucy-this-summer-will-be-different-netflix-1236983517\/\">broke the news<\/a> of the main trio\u2019s casting, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/sophie-nelisse\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sophie-nelisse\" data-tag=\"sophie-nelisse\">Sophie N\u00e9lisse<\/a> (<em>Heated Rivalry<\/em>, <em>The Book Thief<\/em>, <em>Yellowjackets<\/em>) as Lucy Ashby. Next came the announcement of Roby Attal (<em>The Sex Lives of College Girls, The Haunting of Bly Manor<\/em>)and Francesca Reale\u2019s (<em>Stranger Things<\/em>, <em>Do Revenge<\/em>) <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/07\/this-summer-will-be-different-felix-bridget-casting-netflix-1236985685\/\">casting as Clark siblings, Felix \u201cWolf\u201d and Bridget<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Netflix unveiled the start of production, they also revealed that six actors had been added to round out the cast in recurring roles: Jordan Rodrigues as \u201cMiles Lam,\u201d Jude Wilson as \u201cZach\u201d, Natalie Brown as \u201cChristine\u201d, James Tupper as \u201cKen\u201d, Tom Barnett as \u201cPeter\u201d and Celia Owen as \u201cJoy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is <em>This Summer Will Be Different<\/em> about?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First published in 2024, Fortune\u2019s third novel follows Lucy Ashby (N\u00e9lisse) as she drops everything at her florist job to come to the aid of her best friend Bridget (Reale), who gets cold feet about her upcoming wedding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is, Lucy has a history with Bridget\u2019s brother Felix (Attal) after a one night stand the night they met on PEI years ago. Bridget has three rules for Lucy\u2019s trips to PEI, and the third is that Lucy not fall in love with Felix. Lucy and Bridget have been best friends since they began living together after college.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Netflix\u2019s logline calls the adaptation \u201ca simmering, sun-soaked romance set across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island about Lucy, a young woman navigating her 20s and her first real love with her best friend\u2019s brother, the one person she was never supposed to fall for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who else is behind Netflix\u2019s <em>This Summer Will Be Different<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dane Clark (<em>Suze<\/em>, <em>One More Time<\/em>) and Linsey Stewart (<em>Workin\u2019 Moms<\/em>, <em>North of North<\/em>) serve as creators and showrunners as well as executive producers.
