It isn\u2019t politics. It isn\u2019t a line in a budget. It\u2019s the reason families find hope when hope seems hardest to find. When we lose sight of that, we lose sight of one another. That\u2019s too high a price for anyone to pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen thanked the doctors and nurses who treated Scialfa and other cancer patients, saying that they\u2019re the face of hope for those receiving treatment before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/1EqJWZM32n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">playing an acoustic rendition of \u201cBorn to Run.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Scialfa, who just turned 73 on July 29th, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare form of blood cancer, in 2018 but didn\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2024\/09\/patti-scialfa-myeloma-blood-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reveal the diagnosis until 2024<\/a> as part of the documentary <em>Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Scialfa has been a member of the E Street Band since 1984, but she hasn\u2019t been on stage regularly since her diagnosis, appearing at select shows and joining her husband for a few songs over recent years.
