With John now,\u201d Meredith wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbnfUe0EUBw\/?hl=en&amp;img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">via Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday, August 4. \u201cSo many good pics, some of my favorites of my favorites \ud83d\ude18. Love you forever my Kingy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Meredith shared a carousel of photos from the dog\u2019s life, most of which featured her late husband. Kingy was 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">NHL star Johnny, 31, and his brother, <strong>Matthew Gaudreau<\/strong>, were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/sports\/news\/judge-issues-huge-update-in-johnny-and-matthew-gaudreau-case\/\">struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver<\/a> while riding bicycles the night before their sister <strong>Katie<\/strong>\u2019s wedding on August 29, 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Friends and followers left their messages of support for Meredith on Tuesday, including <strong>Odette Werenski<\/strong>, the wife of Columbus Blue Jackets star and one of Johnny\u2019s best friends, <strong>Zach Werenski<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cLove you so much \u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f Kingy was the best and luckiest boy \ud83c\udf08\ud83e\udef6\ud83c\udffb,\u201d Odette wrote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Over the years, Meredith shared how Kingy had become a guard dog of sorts for her growing family.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cMy baby boy with my baby girl \ud83d\udda4\ud83e\ude77,\u201d Meredith shared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C0UMBJaOhep\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">via Instagram<\/a> in December 2023, alongside a photo of the dog and her daughter, Noa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Meredith and Johnny shared <strong>Noa<\/strong>, 3, and sons <strong>Johnny Jr.<\/strong>, 2, and <strong>Carter<\/strong>, 16 months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cLevel up protectiveness \ud83d\udda4\ud83d\udda4,\u201d she shared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CmhuZc6pGmv\/?hl=en&amp;img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">via Instagram<\/a> in December 2022, sharing photos of the dog by her side shortly after Noa\u2019s birth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Meredith often celebrated Kingy\u2019s birthday on social media. I do,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThe summer of 2018, in Avalon. I had just finished a shift at the Children\u2019s Hospital, and I was sitting on the couch with Kingy lying at my feet. Do you remember how scary looking everyone thought he was? I was with him, just exhausted from my shift. I was in my sweats. Tyler was having a birthday party and you know how my sister is, she wanted to have everyone over.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Meredith continued, \u201cThey\u2019d take one look at me and Kingy and head upstairs to see everyone. I remember there was this knock on the door, so I got up and went to answer it. And it was you. You had those little brown eyes, and a fohawk. And you just kind of looked at me for a second. \u2018Hey.
