It was broadcast on BBC 6 Music yesterday (Monday August 3).<\/p>\n<p>For decades now, live sessions have been recorded and broadcast across BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 Music. Notable guests have included legendary artists like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/david-bowie\">David Bowie<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/nirvana\">Nirvana<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/oasis\">Oasis<\/a>, as well as rising talent including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/mary-in-the-junkyard\">Mary In The Junkyard<\/a>, Keo, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/sienna-spiro\">Sienna Spiro<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/new-dad\">New Dad<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/nemzzz\">Nemzzz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The chapter is coming to an end now as the BBC finalises its plans to relocate to east London, where it will be holding sessions at a new high-tech studio at Olympic Park \u2013 a plan that has been in place since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>For the final session at Maida Vale, Fontaines D.C. played their first set since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/fontaines-dc-pay-tribute-after-death-of-manager-and-sixth-member-trevor-dietz-3949887\">the death of manager, friend and influential Irish music champion Trevor Dietz<\/a>. He was fearless in his beliefs. We will miss him always,\u201d they added, with further tributes coming from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/kneecap\">Kneecap<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/annie-maC\">Annie Mac<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/ARTISTS\/BAXTER-DURY\">Baxter Dury<\/a> and more.<\/p>\n<p>For their emotive session at Maida Vale, the band didn\u2019t play any new material, but instead broke out the huge hit \u2018Favourite\u2019, as well as \u2018It\u2019s Amazing to Be Young\u2019, \u2018Big Shot\u2019 and \u2018Bug\u2019. CREDIT: BBC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>In Steve Lamacq\u2019s Radio 6 broadcast, he shared what it was like to say farewell to the Maida Vale sessions before introducing the Fontaine\u2019s set.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t think I\u2019d feel as emotional about this as I do. It\u2019s just a building but it is a legendary building,\u201d he said. \u201cThis street hasn\u2019t changed at all since 1994, when I first came here\u2026 I was thinking about all the hundreds and hundreds of sessions that have been recorded on the other side of these doors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the sessions I first heard myself of late-night Radio 1 from \u201993 onwards, all the evening sessions.
