In the book, he referred to Dolmayan as \u201cis or was\u201d a Trump supporter.<\/p>\n<p>When questioned by\u00a0<em>Rolling Stone Italy\u00a0<\/em>about Dolmayan\u2019s current beliefs, Tankian replied:\u00a0\u201cFirst of all, I don\u2019t want to speak for John about his political views; that wouldn\u2019t be fair. I can say that the verb \u201cwas\u201d is correct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Tankian cautioned that \u201cI can\u2019t say for sure that it still is\u201d, explaining: \u201cI think he, too, got tired of Trump, like many others. Do differences make things more difficult? Of course. But there are also many points on which we agree.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tankian also acknowledged their relationship as bandmates and brothers-in-law, adding that it makes their dynamic \u201ceven more complicated\u201d. \u201cOur children are together all the time. They\u2019re cousins. We see each other at family gatherings. That part is complicated,\u201d he told the publication.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Serj Tankian on \u2018Elasticity\u2019, &amp;apos;Truth To Power&amp;apos; and System Of A Down | In Conversation\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/c_eVA6JvqAQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He went on to say that\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m certainly not the only person in the world who has a brother-in-law with different political views,\u201d adding:\u00a0\u201cI know so many Armenians in Los Angeles who voted for Trump and now regret it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at how much the United States has invested in education from 1980, when Reagan became president, until 2026, that explains everything,\u201d he said of Trump\u2019s ascent to power.<\/p>\n<p>Dolmayan has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/system-of-a-downs-john-dolmayan-claims-he-lost-hundreds-of-thousands-of-fans-who-couldnt-handle-his-opinions-3521398\">a longstanding and outspoken supporter of Trump<\/a> since his first presidency in 2016.
