(In Lights!)<\/em> to pilot after initially ordering three scripts to develop. It was one of a few projects CBS put into development in the spring, along with <em>Flint<\/em>, a cop show <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/matt-leblanc-cop-show-development-cbs-1236565465\/\">starring Matt LeBlanc<\/a>, and a forensic drama called <em>I Know Who You Are<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCreated by Abbey Caldwell (<em>Laid, Fresh Off the Boat<\/em>), the single-camera <em>Hilda! (In Lights!)<\/em> is described as \u201cone of those classic shows about a plucky small-town optimist who moves to the big city to pursue her life-long dream of starring on Broadway. There\u2019s just one teeny, tiny, totally inconsequential difference \u2014 our hero Hilda is a 70-year-old woman from Nebraska\u00a0with absolutely no experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tShould the pilot make it to series, it would become part of a growing crop of TV and streaming series centered on older characters. CBS\u2019 <em>Matlock<\/em>, NBC\u2019s upcoming <em>Newlyweds<\/em> (about a \u201clater in life\u201d marriage), and Netflix\u2019s <em>A Man on the Inside<\/em> and one-and-done series <em>The Boroughs<\/em> all feature lead characters who are 60 or older, once a rarity on TV. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCBS is also going into the 2026-27 season with fewer comedies than it has had for most of the past two decades. The network currently has just three, with <em>Georgie &amp; Mandy\u2019s First Marriage<\/em> and newcomer <em>Eternally Yours<\/em> set for the fall and <em>Ghosts<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/cbs-2026-27-tv-schedule-1236565533\/\">returning in early 2027<\/a>. The latter will also air Halloween and Christmas specials before its full season begins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCBS Studios is producing <em>Hilda! (In Lights!)<\/em>.
