{"id":26774,"date":"2026-08-04T02:46:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T21:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=26774"},"modified":"2026-08-04T02:46:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T21:46:22","slug":"sony-boss-teases-future-movies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=26774","title":{"rendered":"Sony Boss Teases Future Movies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div xmlns:default=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sony-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sony-pictures_1\" data-tag=\"sony-pictures\">Sony Pictures<\/a> is flying high after <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/spider-man-brand-new-day\/\" id=\"auto-tag_spider-man-brand-new-day_1\" data-tag=\"spider-man-brand-new-day\">Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a><\/em>, starring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tom-holland\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tom-holland_1\" data-tag=\"tom-holland\">Tom Holland<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/zendaya\/\" id=\"auto-tag_zendaya_1\" data-tag=\"zendaya\">Zendaya<\/a>, swung <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/spider-man-brand-new-day-opening-record-endgame-box-office-1236662986\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">into the record books<\/a> with its spectacular opening weekend at the box office. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDirector <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/destin-daniel-cretton\/\" id=\"auto-tag_destin-daniel-cretton_1\" data-tag=\"destin-daniel-cretton\">Destin Daniel Cretton<\/a>\u2018s film launched to $360 million domestically, leaping past 2019\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/avengers-endgame\/\" id=\"auto-tag_avengers-endgame_1\" data-tag=\"avengers-endgame\">Avengers: Endgame<\/a><\/em> for the biggest North American debut ever. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sadie-sink\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sadie-sink_1\" data-tag=\"sadie-sink\">Sadie Sink<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jon-bernthal\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jon-bernthal_1\" data-tag=\"jon-bernthal\">Jon Bernthal<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/mark-ruffalo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mark-ruffalo_1\" data-tag=\"mark-ruffalo\">Mark Ruffalo<\/a> also star in <em>Brand New Day<\/em>, which focuses on the title <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/marvel\/\" id=\"auto-tag_marvel_1\" data-tag=\"marvel\">Marvel<\/a> superhero\u2019s lonely life as he sets out to stop an invisible new foe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn a conversation with <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>, Sony Pictures chief <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tom-rothman\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tom-rothman_1\" data-tag=\"tom-rothman\">Tom Rothman<\/a> admits that there have yet to be significant talks about Holland returning as Spider-Man for a fifth film: \u201cNo, not in any concrete sense \u2014 only aspirational.\u201d In light of Holland having told <em>THR<\/em> at the <em>Brand New Day<\/em> premiere that he would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/tom-holland-spider-man-brand-new-day-premiere-1236657726\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">open to reprising his role<\/a>, Rothman says, \u201cI can tell you when I heard that Tom said that, I jumped for joy. All I will say is that hope springs eternal. I really hope so.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHe also quips, \u201cAll the geniuses who said that theatrical movies were dead, they\u2019re not necessarily right. Actually, the theatrical marketplace is booming right now, and I\u2019m excited about it. Rothman also recalls the filmmaking team feeling a sense of uncertainty at first about how to follow <em>No Way Home<\/em>, which created buzz with the return of past Peter Parkers in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield before collecting a global total of $1.9 billion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201c[Initially,] the problem for a while was, \u2018How do you top that?&#8217;\u201d he says. \u201cWhat do we do next when we just put in all our Spider-Men? The strategic decision was \u2014 rather than trying what we all thought would be perhaps an empty effort of going quote, unquote bigger \u2014 we just went deeper. That was a very conscious choice to focus on how we could make the audience feel. We were fortunate enough to have a director who was able to balance emotion and spectacle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSony\u2019s upcoming slate for the next few months includes <em>Insidious: Out of the Further<\/em>, <em>Resident Evil <\/em>and the <em>Social Network<\/em> follow-up <em>The Social Reckoning<\/em>. I feel about it what I feel about the <em>Spider-Man<\/em> movie, which is, everybody knows the broadest outlines of the Beatles story, but [with] Sam and the depth of character, in addition to the most incredible music ever, it\u2019s a really emotional story. So I\u2019m excited about it, but it\u2019s a big undertaking.
