And is there going to be a limit on the number of items that someone can take that are discounted at that level from that essential basket?\u201d a reporter asked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tag\/zohran-mamdani\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mamdani<\/a> about the logistics of his free, taxpayer-funded grocery stores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo our RFP (Request for Proposal) makes very clear that this is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/politics\/497491\/mamdani-grocery-stores-nyc-discounts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">program<\/a> for New Yorkers to be able to put food on the table, not a program for people to be able to make a quick buck through reselling. I&#8217;m gonna pass it over to our EDC head, <strong>Jean Pak,<\/strong> to add some additional details,\u201d Mamdani replied.<\/p>\n<p>Pak then took the mic and replied, \u201cYeah, so if you look at our RFP for the operator, we are looking to make sure that we target New Yorkers, whether it be at sort of a library-card-esque system, and also we manage who&#8217;s buying, and that is focused on everyday New Yorkers. So we are mindful of that, and so we&#8217;re gonna make sure that we have all the things in place to make sure that does not happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elon Musk<\/strong> replied to the clip, \u201cOh, the irony is too much\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. <strong>Rick Scott<\/strong> (R-FL) then added, \u201c.@elonmusk \u2014 it\u2019s not just ironic, it\u2019s hypocritical! @NYCMayor Mamdani\u2019s going to require an ID check for his grocery stores, but thinks it\u2019s racist to require one for federal elections?!?
