The two former \u201c60 Minutes\u201d correspondents will work with students through lectures, workshops and special events, and they will each contribute a piece to the\u00a0Columbia Journalism Review. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re both excited and honored to welcome two journalists of this caliber to our Journalist in Residence Program,\u201d said Jelani Cobb, dean of the Journalism School, in a statement. \u201cTheir distinguished track records in investigative reporting highlight the amazing opportunity our students will have to learn from them, and we look forward to having Sharyn and Scott with us this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBoth journalists were ousted from the CBS News newsmagazine earlier this year, part of a radical overhaul of a venerable program that has continued to draw big crowds and win plaudits for its coverage. Alfonsi departed after clashing with Bari Weiss, CBS News\u2019 editor in chief,<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/60-minutes-cbs-news-inside-cecot-bari-weiss-sharyn-alfonsi-1236634344\/\"> who delayed the airing of a report<\/a> the journalist had prepared investigating the deportation of migrants to harsh prisons in Venezuela.<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/scott-pelley-exit-cbs-news-60-minutes-1236765350\/\"> Pelley was pushed out<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/nick-bilton-60-minutes-newsmagazine-digital-cbs-news-1236761560\/\">calling out the show\u2019s new executive producer, Nick Bilton<\/a>, during an internal meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWeiss dramatically overhauled the program in May and June, dispatching half the on-air staff and several senior producers. Tanya Simon, the former executive producer, was replaced by Bilton. In addition to Alfonsi and Pelley, Cecilia Vega was also pushed out.
