The father-daughter duo co-host the podcast<em> No Time But Now<\/em>, where they reflect on their <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/07\/william-shatner-cancer-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">experiences surviving<\/a> stage four cancer\u2013skin cancer in Shatner\u2019s case and breast cancer in Gretsch\u2019s\u2013and the renewed appreciation for life that followed. When Michaelson asked what he was most excited about these days, Shatner didn\u2019t hesitate: \u201cMy heavy metal!\u201d he replied, steering the conversation toward his latest creative venture, his <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/02\/william-shatner-metal-album\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">upcoming heavy metal album<\/a> his newly formed band, The *uckers.<\/p>\n<p>While running through the band\u2019s upcoming schedule, including their live debut at <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/07\/william-shatner-to-play-riot-fest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Riot Fest in Chicago<\/a> on September 20th, he added that they would also be playing \u201cthe one in the desert.\u201d Michaelson quickly interjected, \u201cCoachella?\u201d and both Shatner and Gretsch answered in unison, \u201cCoachella,\u201d letting slip a festival booking organizers have yet to announce.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Formed earlier this year, The *uckers feature Shatner alongside guitarist and musical director Marcus Nand, bassist Phil Soussan\u2013best known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne and Billy Idol\u2013guitarist Britt Lightning, and drummer Fred Aching. The group is set to perform material spanning Shatner\u2019s musical catalog while previewing songs from its forthcoming debut album, <em>What the F Is Heavy Metal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Out of sheer joy, Shatner reflected on his approach to performing with the band. \u201cIt isn\u2019t so much, \u2018When do I come in?\u2019 but I\u2019ve got to feel the music and then come in with the lyrics,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s all about passion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As unlikely as a William Shatner metal project may sound, the actor has spent decades boldly carving out a<a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/08\/william-shatner-brad-paisley-love-other-mysteries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> parallel music career alongside his acting r\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/a>. Beginning with his 1968 spoken-word debut <em>The Transformed Man<\/em>, Shatner has since released a dozen studio albums, collaborating with artists including Ben Folds, Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, Brad Paisley, Peter Frampton, and Iggy Pop. Along with the heavy metal album, Shatner also recently confirmed the release of a <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/08\/william-shatner-brad-paisley-love-other-mysteries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new spoken-word project<\/a> due out in August.<\/p>\n<p>The Coachella mention comes just weeks after Riot Fest unveiled Shatner as one of its most unconventional bookings to date. Festival organizers, who spent years jokingly campaigning to land the actor, accompanied the announcement with an intentionally <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/07\/william-shatner-riot-fest-rider\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">over-the-top rider<\/a> that included fire breathers, a DeLorean in place of a golf cart, four feet of Polish sausage, and an assortment of adoptable puppies backstage.<\/p>\n<p>Coachella has not officially announced its 2027 lineup. If his appearance is indeed locked in, the actor will head to Indio in April fresh off his Riot Fest debut.
