Maybe the Democratic establishment should begin to understand they are way, way, out of touch with where the American people are,\u201d Sanders countered. \u201cThat we don\u2019t need a party anymore which is dominated by wealthy campaign contributors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cocchiarella seemed to love the senator\u2019s take, letting out a healthy \u201cYes!\u201d as he went on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo when you talk about the Democratic establishment, it\u2019s really relatively a few people. And they\u2019re pretty open about it,\u201d Sanders said. \u201cYou know, \u2018the donor class said <em>you<\/em> or<em> you<\/em> should be the candidate for the senate,\u2019 that\u2019s what the \u2018donor class\u2019 says.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanders continued, saying the Democratic Party should become a \u201cparty of working people, of young people, of people of color, of people who understand what it\u2019s like to struggle, who are prepared to take on the oligarchs, who want to see the economy work for all, not just a few.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His interview comes after a\u00a0handful of other socialists\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/democratic-socialist-melat-kiros-vows-to-take-the-fight-to-donald-trump-after-ousting-15-term-incumbent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won Democratic primaries<\/a>\u00a0in June.<\/p>\n<p>Two of those candidates in New York \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/mamdani-backed-chevalier-praised-north-koreas-kim-in-unearthed-communist-friendly-tweets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Darializa Avila Chevalier<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(D)\u00a0<span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3 r-b88u0q r-1x3r274\"><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\"><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3 r-1x3r274\">and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3 r-b88u0q r-1x3r274\"><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\"><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3 r-1x3r274\"><strong>Claire Valdez<\/strong> (D) \u2014 are card-carrying members of the Democratic Socialists of America, just like NYC Mayor<strong>\u00a0Zohran Mamdani\u00a0<\/strong>(D). The mayor backed both Chevalier and Valdez in their primaries.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"qualified qualified-4 qualified-2 qualified-3\">Beyond its socialist economic agenda, the DSA website said it is against Trump\u2019s \u201cracist immigration policies\u201d and America being allied with Israel, which it said has committed a \u201cgenocide\u201d in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"qualified qualified-5 qualified-4\">Soon after the primaries, Trump sardonically congratulated Mamdani on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/trump-congratulates-zohran-mamdani-on-getting-3-solid-communists-elected-in-nyc\/\">getting \u201csolid Communists\u201d elected.\u00a0<\/a>His tone shifted a few days later, when he said the communists have started to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/trump\/trump-declares-the-communists-are-finally-making-their-move\/\">make \u201ctheir move\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in the USA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe game is on,\u201d Trump said. \u201cEnjoy watching!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump has ripped the socialists and socialism plenty of other times recently, including when he said communism is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/donald-trump-fourth-of-july-speech-describes-communism-as-a-cancer-12012111\">a \u201ccancer\u201d<\/a>\u00a0which must be dealt with ASAP during his Fourth of July address.<\/p>\n<p>He issued a similar warning during a speech last week in Georgia.
