His longtime manager called Collins\u2019 five children to his bedside as doctors considered whether he would survive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4f2d58R\" class=\"button button-ticket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Buy Phil Collins&#8217; Face Value (Full Value) Box Set<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were some decisions to be made about, \u2018Do we keep Phil on life support?\u2019 kind of thing,\u201d Collins recalled. \u201cMy kidneys were packing up, my organs were just seizing up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople were coming to say goodbye, but I don\u2019t remember them coming,\u201d he continued. \u201cI didn\u2019t have any idea this was going on. They were all worried that they wouldn\u2019t see me again. It could all have gone so terribly wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Collins ultimately recovered and has since stopped drinking. As 2025 came to a close, he reunited with his family at London\u2019s Mandarin Oriental, where they spent four days together celebrating the new year. Collins said his daughter <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/tag\/lily-collins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lily Collins<\/a> sat beside him in tears and told him, \u201cI never thought I\u2019d get these moments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had an incredible time,\u201d he added. \u201cI can\u2019t overemphasize how fantastic it was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The health crisis followed years of physical complications for Collins, who has undergone multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/01\/phil-collins-health-update-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spinal and knee surgeries<\/a> and can now walk only with crutches. Nerve damage has also left him unable to hold a drumstick, while diabetes and kidney problems require him to have a live-in nurse available around the clock.<\/p>\n<p>Collins\u2019 limited mobility was apparent during Genesis\u2019 farewell trek, <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2021\/09\/genesis-reunion-tour-setlist-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cThe Last Domino? Tour,\u201d<\/a> which concluded in London in March 2022. He performed seated while his son <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/05\/nic-collins-rush-2112-drumeo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nic Collins<\/a> handled drums.<\/p>\n<p>Collins is set to be formally inducted into the <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/04\/rock-hall-fame-2026-class\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> as a solo artist on November 14th, joining Genesis, who entered the institution in 2010. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/05\/phil-collins-wont-perform-rock-hall-induction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he will not perform<\/a> at the ceremony. Despite his health issues, he said the loss of his ability to perform remains especially painful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish I could play still,\u201d Collins said. \u201cIt\u2019s been my life since I was given a drum kit at three.
