In the filing, Brittney described the marriage as \u201c<strong>irretrievably broken<\/strong>\u201d and stated that the couple has been separated since July 24.<\/p>\n<p>The couple, who met while attending Baylor University, married in 2018 and share a two-year-old son, Bash. Brittney is seeking joint legal custody of their son, as well as an equitable division of the couple\u2019s marital assets while retaining her separate, nonmarital property.<\/p>\n<p>Cherelle became widely known for advocating tirelessly on Brittney\u2019s behalf after the basketball star was detained in Russia in 2022 on drug charges.
