Perfect movie to show in a cemetery,\u201d Bullock, who stars as Sally Owens, said over the crowd\u2019s roar of enthusiasm. \u201cWe should also thank the spirits that are floating around us as well because you\u2019re on their seats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tKidman, who plays Gilly, added: \u201cThank you for all your support for getting this 2nd film made that\u2019s coming to you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThen, Bullock introduced the \u201cnext generation\u201d of Owens sisters: Joey King and Maisie Williams, who play Sally\u2019s adult daughters in Warner Bros.\u2019 sure-to-be-spellbinding sequel, in theaters Sept. 11. The duo sauntered on the screen with margaritas in hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cTo the coven,\u201d Kidman said, proposing that the crowd \u2014 clad in all types of 90s witchy attire, from flowy black robes and pointy hats \u201cPractical Magic\u201d t-shirts \u2014 raise their glasses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cMaisie and I are so excited to be joining the coven as Kylie and Antonia,\u201d King told the crowd. \u201cWe really hope you enjoy the new movie as much as we did making it.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cPractical Magic 2,\u201d directed by Susanne Bier, \u201creturns to a world steeped in moonlit mischief and powerful ancestral magic, as the Owens sisters must confront the dark curse that threatens to unravel their family once and for all in a must-see cinematic event of fun, magic and mayhem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe new movie follows 28 years later, as Sally bakes cakes and avoids men, while Gilly attracts men named Chad on Tinder. But the Owens family\u2019s 300-year-old curse carries one generation forward, striking Sally daughter Kylie\u2019s and her lover (Xolo Maridue\u00f1a), who gets hit by a car while bicycling with several bouquets of roses. Kylie is determined to reverse the curse\u00a0by any means necessary, forcing Sally and Gillian to band together to keep her away from the darkness and break the spell for good. Lee Pace also stars in the film, with Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest returning and Frances and Jet Owens, Sally and Gilly\u2019s aunts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAkiva Goldsman and Georgia Pritchett wrote the script for the sequel, which is based on the 2021 novel \u201cThe Book of Magic\u201d by Alice Hoffman, the fourth in her \u201cPractical Magic\u201d book series. Denise DiNovi, Bullock and Kidman produced the Warner Bros. film. Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Donald Sabourin and Hoffman serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe special \u201cPractical Magic\u201d screening was part of <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/cinespia\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cinespia\" data-tag=\"cinespia\">Cinespia<\/a>\u2018s annual lineup of exhibitions at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The outdoor screening series, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, has \u201cThe Mummy,\u201d a double feature of Mia Goth\u2019s \u201cX\u201d and \u201cPearl,\u201d \u201cComing to America\u201d and a 40th anniversary showing of \u201cLabyrinth\u201d scheduled for the month of August.
